Job Description
NBCUniversal is seeking a Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Manager to join the Facilities Operations and Engineering team in Universal City, CA. This role works closely with all divisions of West Coast Studio Operations and reports to the Director of Critical Infrastructure. As an individual contributor, the MEP Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day facility operations across the NBCUniversal Studio Lot, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence.
What You'll Do:
- Works under the direction of the Director of Facilities Infrastructure Systems to support MEP operations across studio facilities and production environments, ensuring reliable and efficient infrastructure.
- Enforce safety protocols across MEP operations, ensuring full compliance with EHS regulations and industry's best practices.
- Monitor the quality of all MEP services, repairs, and installations to ensure work meets technical specifications and the highest performance standards.
- Collaborate with the asset management team to maintain accurate inventory and lifecycle tracking of all equipment and infrastructure, supporting long-term planning and capital replacement strategies.
- Ensure preventive maintenance programs and inspection routines are consistently executed to maintain system performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with the Contracts Manager to support procurement and financial activities, including vendor sourcing, RFP development, contract negotiation and administration, budget tracking, and purchase approvals.
- Engage with external vendors and contractors, ensuring work is delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with quality expectations and contractual requirements.
- Troubleshoot and respond to operational challenges including after-hours issues such as equipment failures, HVAC disruptions, and electrical or plumbing incidents that may impact production and theme park/CityWalk operations in some instances.
- Coordinate and prioritize MEP work requests, ensuring timely and accurate completion across electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Contribute to the development and management of the studio operations budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost control.
- Participate in the planning and oversight of capital improvement projects involving MEP systems, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery. Monitor project performance, including schedule adherence, cost control, quality standards, and estimate reviews.
- Support critical infrastructure planning, enterprise standards development, and general building systems automation/reporting to include supporting external sites as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation and provide regular updates to leadership and stakeholders.
- Coordinate daily operational schedules across MEP functions to ensure alignment with production needs.
- Recommend and support the procurement of equipment, tools, and supplies to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project planning and implementation.
- Support the development and implementation of training programs to ensure MEP staff remain proficient with current technologies, codes, and standards.
- Support initiatives focused on energy efficiency and sustainability in alignment with organizational environmental goals.
- Partner with Emergency Services teams to ensure rapid and effective response to MEP related incidents. Ensure all facility modifications comply with applicable codes and regulations, including those related to fire protection and boiler systems.
- Attend required meetings and participate in ongoing professional development to maintain technical expertise.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- 2+ years of experience in data analytics and verification
What Would Make You a Stand-out:
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, cooling systems, building automation, utilities and electrical systems)
- Experience with enterprise Integrated Workplace Management Systems, work planning and scheduling and materials management
- Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, Building/Energy Management Systems such as Tridium and other relevant tools.
- Working knowledge and understanding of building codes and standards, safety workplace practices, environmental compliance, energy efficiency standards, accessibility requirements, fire safety and suppression systems, emergency and disaster preparedness as well as other applicable standards, codes, and requirements relevant to the job function
- Comfortable operating in high-pressure, mission-critical builds
- 5+ years prior experience in Facilities or equivalent complex facility operation.
- Professional designations such as BOMA, LEED, etc.
