Your Job:
The Material Production Planner II plays a pivotal role in developing and executing global materials plans to meet the production and sample needs of apparel. This position requires effective collaboration with various teams such as materials development, sourcing, and supply planning team, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials. In this role, you will manage inventory and maintain supplier relationships. Additionally, they will be responsible for forecasting, ordering, data analysis, and driving efficiency across the materials supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Material Procurement:
- Develop and execute global seasonal material plans to meet apparel production and salesmen sample requirements.
- Collaborate with fabric mills and trim vendors to ensure materials are delivered on time for bulk production and salesman samples.
- Communicate material liabilities, plans and discrepancies with development teams and resolve issues with suppliers.
- Plan, execute, and monitor the raw material needs for all apparel bulk production and samples from yarn, greige, and dyed material.
- Manage the identified T2 sources and evaluate risks in potential suppliers for fabrics, trims and raw materials.
- Maintain relationships with current suppliers to validate fabric production lead times.
- Inventory and Demand Analysis:
- Monitor material usage, track inventory levels, and ensure materials are accurately accounted for in systems like FlexPLM for all styles
- Account for excess material throughout the season and collaborate with the Apparel Product and Development teams to utilize in upcoming seasons or evaluate disposal options.
- Build and maintain Material Requirements Planning (MRP) tool
- Coordinate with garment factories, development teams, and suppliers to ensure material demand is aligned with production forecasts.
- Manage material inventory levels to minimize exposure and surcharges.
- Report the materials volume results to the Materials Development Team at end of season to leverage this information for consideration of materials forecasts for future seasons.
- Supplier Management and Coordination:
- Work closely with the Taipei team and coordinate between Tier I and Tier II suppliers to ensure seamless communication.
- Negotiate with suppliers to improve service levels when delivery schedules or quality issues arise.
- Issue greige and yarn orders to fabric mills and maintain relationships to ensure smooth operations.
- Partner with the Taipei Materials Manager and Sourcing team to resolve issues at supplier levels.
- Cross-functional Collaboration and Communication:
- Work cross-functionally with the apparel team to resolve any material-related production delays or quality concerns.
- Collaborate with the product line, materials development, and sourcing teams from pre-season through to the order process.
- Ensure clear and timely communication with internal teams on material plans and material quality.
- Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain and develop spreadsheets and tracking tools used by the Materials Supply Team, including MRP and SharePoint systems.
- Analyze material data, track supplier performance, and create detailed reports to inform decision-making on material selection, costs, and availability.
- Generate Quarterly Liability and End of Year Material reserve reports
- Maintain the assist spreadsheet used by Brooks’ Compliance Team for correct duty payment and work closely with the Associate Supply Planner to add LTM (less than MCQ) surcharges to purchase orders.
- Efficiency and Process Improvement:
- Ensure timely and efficient dyeing/finishing by confirming garment factory material orders are sent to mills on time.
- Identify and address anomalies to Director of Sourcing/MSP, making necessary corrections in MRP to optimize material flow.
- Continuously improve processes related to materials planning, supplier management, and cost control.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Textile Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in supply chain management, demand planning, or inventory management, preferably within the apparel or textile industry.
- Proficiency in Flex PLM, MRP systems, and advanced planning tools (experience with M3 is a plus).
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting functions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented and investigative approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Ability to think strategically, resolve complex supply chain issues, and deliver cost-effective solutions.
- Experience working with sustainable materials and eco-friendly sourcing practices.
- Familiarity with global trade regulations related to textile sourcing and production.
- Passionate about sports, particularly running, and aligning with the company’s values and community.
