Are you a skilled Platform Engineer with a passion for ensuring continuous uptime and optimizing operations? Mastercard Australia is inviting expressions of interest for dynamic and experienced Platform Engineers to join our team. About the Role:
As a Platform Engineer at Mastercard, you will be at the forefront of delivering robust event management, correlation, automation, and runbook solutions. You will support our mission to provide high availability of Mastercard services, implement quality engineering best practices, and work closely with technology support and application teams to monitor and improve application and infrastructure availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day support strategies to ensure high availability of Mastercard services.
- Implement quality engineering best practices to deliver services and solutions that meet stakeholders' needs.
- Lead teams providing reliable services and support, resolving first-level escalation issues.
- Plan and execute RE methodologies in coordination with Lead Engineers to build high-quality services and better products.
- Represent the team in meetings, provide advice, updates, training, and technical support.
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand automation requirements and implement solutions using available toolsets and scripting languages.
- Administer, support, and maintain enterprise monitoring tools in a multi-tier environment.
- Build automation solutions using available toolsets and scripting languages.
- Maintain technical support documents for all built solutions and processes.
- Troubleshoot database technologies and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems.
- Provide on-call administration and tools support.
- Learn and apply new technologies swiftly to solve problems and provide innovative solutions.
- Maintain broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and systems.
- Support business disaster recovery procedures for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Accurately document duties and procedures for cross-training and absentee coverage.
- Work with technical engineering teams to manage and improve processes.
- Identify tasks that should be automated and develop and implement automation.
All About You:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
- Experience in Platform Engineering.
- Proficiency with one or more database technologies: Oracle and/or Cassandra.
- Working knowledge of database structures, theories, principles, and best practices.
- Expertise in monitoring database systems' performance and reliability, anticipating possible issues, and taking preventive measures to avoid downtime.
- Experience with database clustering and replication methods.
- Familiarity with database backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL.
- Familiarity with database replication technologies such as OGG and PGD.
- Experience in capacity planning, performance tuning, and load testing to ensure database technologies' stability.
- Good understanding of Linux/Unix file-system technologies.
- Exposure to using enterprise monitoring tools for database server technologies supervision.
- Experience working with mission-critical platforms and systems with 24/7 availability.
- Expert problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A passion for learning, sharing knowledge, and working in a team-oriented environment.
