We are now looking for master students within mechanical engineering that are interested in doing their thesis project at our product design Department.
A complete chainsaw consists of both a chainsaw and cutting equipment (Bar and chain) The interface between bar and chainsaw is crucial for durability, cutting performance and customer experience.
The objective
Define & Optimize interface with respect to weight and clamping force. Understand which parameters influence the clamping force.
Proper area of education
Master's in mechanical engineering
The thesis will include work such as
- Review of requirements and external forces related to the bar and interface towards chainsaw.
- Establish analytical calculation model to describe forces, torques and friction behavior.
- Conduct testing and evaluation of existing chainsaws. Based on that knowledge, develop concepts for optimized interface.
- Design and make prototype for verification of theoretical model / hypothesis.
