Scope of Position

The individual in this critical role is responsible for the oversight and strategic planning of production schedules, ensuring that resources, materials, and labor (capacity) are effectively aligned with short-term operational requirements and long-term business objectives for each Value Stream. The role serves as a key partner to Operations, Materials, Sales, Supply Chain, and senior leadership in translating business forecasts and organizational priorities into executable production and inventory strategies.

This position is responsible for supervising 6-10 production planning associates, providing leadership for day-to-day execution while developing planning strategies that maximize productivity, optimize inventory investment, improve service levels, minimize changeovers, and support business growth.

This position reports to the Materials Manager, is onsite and is based in Franklin, NH.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute master production schedules that align operational capacity with customer demand, inventory objectives, and strategic business goals while optimizing flow within value streams to support strategic decision-making and growth initiatives.
  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Procurement, and Leadership teams in the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to ensure business objectives align with demand forecasts, production plans and workforce planning.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-range production planning strategies, utilizing demand trends, sales forecasts, capacity analysis, and inventory data to minimize changeovers, maximize productivity, and improve service performance, schedule attainment, and supply chain effectiveness across all operations.
  • Provide SAP Super User support, leadership, and coaching for all Planning and Scheduling activities while identifying opportunities to improve systems utilization and planning effectiveness.
  • Responsible for clearly communicating production schedules, capacity constraints, inventory and labor risks, and strategic planning recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Develop and execute inventory and production planning strategies by balancing Make-to-Stock (MTS), Make-to-Order (MTO), and Assembly-to-Order (ATO) product lines; optimizing safety stock, WIP, and Kanban levels; and maintaining target fill rates while supporting customer service, inventory, and operational performance objectives.
  • Provide agent support regarding sales orders, inventory concerns, and escalation of critical customer orders while ensuring alignment with overall business priorities.
  • Supervise team members, develop succession plans, support professional growth and development, and build organizational capability. Establish departmental goals, performance measures, and key performance indicators (KPIs) that align with plant and organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Distribution Centers, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain stakeholders to proactively address issues, mitigate risks, and support strategic business initiatives.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on eliminating waste, improving material flow, optimizing inventory levels, increasing schedule adherence, and strengthening end-to-end planning processes through data-driven analysis and root-cause problem solving.
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Materials Manager or Company management.
  • Travel Requirements: Less than 10%

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of planning and/or master scheduling experience.
  • High level of proficiency with SAP and Power BI or similar analytical platform.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, produce, and analyze operational data and develop planning strategies that support business objectives.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
  • Lean training with Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience participating in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) or similar business planning processes.
  • Proven ability to align operational planning with organizational goals.
  • Previous experience in team leadership roles

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. You will be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work in the office at the Franklin, NH location (Monday – Friday). Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.
