Position Summary
- Providing personalized 1:1 career coaching virtually, onsite at MassHire Downtown Boston’s office and offsite at partner locations in the Boston region as required.
- Leading job search webinars and workshops on topics such as career exploration, networking, resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn, interviewing, negotiation, and more.
- Assisting clients in the Career Resource Center with membership registration, job search strategies, and accessing Career Center resources and services.
- Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to assisting with job fairs and completing administrative tasks for the Career Center.
JVS/MassHire is seeking a Career Navigator to deliver innovative, customer-focused workforce development services at the MassHire Downtown Boston Career Center. The Career Navigator, in collaboration with the Career Center team, will assist job seekers from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience to conduct successful job searches and obtain employment.

This is a hybrid position that requires both onsite work at 75 Federal Street, Boston, MA, offsite work at partner locations in the Boston region (as assigned), and remote work from home.
Essential Job Functions
- Conduct individualized coaching sessions for clients with diverse backgrounds.
- Advise clients on all aspects of the job search process including career exploration, networking, resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn, interviewing, negotiation, and more.
- Assist clients in navigating and overcoming employment barriers.
- Empower clients to articulate their unique skills and value proposition.
- Equip clients with the knowledge and resources to effectively stand out to potential employers.
- Collaborate with clients to establish tangible, actionable goals for their job search.
- Accurately identify clients’ needs and direct them to the appropriate resources.
- Maintain accurate notes and records in the MOSES database and internal Excel spreadsheets.
- Co-lead job search webinars and workshops on topics such as career exploration, networking, resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn, interviewing, negotiation, and more.
- Apply strong public speaking and adult education best practices to engage the audience and support learning, both in-person and virtually.
- Register new members by facilitating the intake process and introducing them to available career center resources.
- Support clients’ job search efforts by providing direct guidance on applications, resume formatting, and search strategies.
- Provide technical assistance for computer navigation, including help with internet usage, file management, and office equipment.
- Triage and direct clients to the appropriate workshops, staff members, and specialized services based on their needs.
- Manage Resource Center operations, including monitoring computer lab usage and performing basic administrative tasks.
- Assist with monthly job fairs and other special events, providing onsite support as assigned.
- Perform general administrative tasks and special projects as requested by management to support daily Career Center operations and overall efficiency of the Career Center.
- Collaborate with partner agencies to integrate career services into their programs.
- Build relationships with employers, training providers, and partner organizations to support employment and training opportunities for clients.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree plus two years of hands-on experience and/or training in areas such as career counseling, case management, recruitment, education, coaching, or counseling; alternatively, a comparable blend of education, training, and practical experience.
- Teaching or public speaking skills/experience required.
- Advanced computer and technology competency required. Previous experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, and Zoom required.
- Excellent organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to effectively engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds (including staff, clients, and stakeholders).
- Multilingual abilities preferred but not required.
