The Marketing Strategist-Content, the highest individual contributor role, is responsible for planning and leading the development of a cohesive, omni-channel content strategy that supports all stages of the client and prospect journey—from awareness to purchase. This role emphasizes aligning content to key “moments that matter,” ensuring that it drives engagement, builds trust, and achieves strategic business objectives.
The Marketing Strategist-Content role combines deep expertise in content distribution planning and creation with a strong ability to collaborate across internal teams and external content vendors. They play a critical role in curating, developing, and managing content that resonates with target audiences and delivers value across multiple channels.
This position works cross-functionally to ensure content strategies are seamlessly integrated into broader organizational initiatives and are executed effectively to maximize impact. By bringing creativity and strategic insight to the table, the Marketing Strategist-Content role ensures the organization delivers consistent, high-quality content that supports enterprise goals.
This role leads large and complex work streams, projects, and initiatives, focusing on developing content strategies and distribution plans across multiple online and offline channels. The Marketing Strategist-Content role may also take the lead on corporate initiatives, serving as a trusted consultant and collaborator with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

         

          

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the SEO team to identify trending topics and high-impact opportunities, developing content strategies optimized for search, visibility, and inclusion in AI-driven platforms, while partnering with creative teams to bring concepts to life from ideation through execution.  
  • Supports Thrivent Magazine with content development including topic identification, research, writing and editing; design reviews and printing/distribution tactics.
  • Leads large and complex marketing programs/initiatives that drive brand recognition and affinity, productivity, and membership growth. Leverages extensive experience to drive strategic content development that aligns with key corporate strategies and goals; manages the work of cross-organizational sub-teams/work streams.
  • Works with research and analytics teams to determine business opportunities, model consumer behaviors, gather field insights/feedback and track results. Leverage data and analytics to drive improvements to content marketing programs/initiatives that result in greater ROI.
  • Continuously seeks ways to leverage technology to drive more effective, efficient, and impactful marketing content strategies and tactics.
  • Develop trusted relationships with key internal/external stakeholders to collaborate and influence across the organization contributing to the development of consumer offers that attract target segments, drive membership growth, and increase member loyalty.
  • Translates strategic vision to drive flawless tactical execution; provides coaching to help grow organizational content marketing acumen.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and advancements, applying insights to innovate and enhance content strategies.
  • Uses vertical marketing expertise/experience to contribute to larger marketing initiatives and projects. May be charged with leading cross- sub-teams and work streams and providing work direction in support of larger marketing initiatives.  Leverages experience to drive development that aligns with key corporate strategies and initiatives.
  • Contributes to the development of content marketing strategies that support the organizational Brand and Go-To-Market strategies; responsible for development of actionable tactics that support productivity and new member growth.  Plans and creates positioning of brand to select market segments through multiple communication channels.
  • Plans, creates and/or produces content for thrivent.com, on social networking websites, and interactive marketing related media.
  • Develop trusted relationships with key internal/external stakeholders to collaborate and contribute to branding and distribution of member offers that attract target segments, drive membership growth, and increase member loyalty.

Required Job Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of marketing or related experience.
  • College degree in marketing or related field; masters a plus but not required.
  • Experience in a specialized area of marketing (direct marketing, e-marketing, communications, analytics, brand positioning, social networking media, etc.) and/or project/program management.
  • Excellent communication skills and exceptional customer service mindset.
  • Demonstrates strong project management and collaboration skills.
  • Applies a development mindset that uses creativity and marketing expertise to develop new, more effective, and more efficient marketing approaches.

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • 5+ years relevant experience in consumer financial services and with a distributed sales force preferred - in banking, lending, debt solutions, insurance, investments, retirement planning or fintech.
  • Ability to manage up/down and across a large organization.
  • Experience with SEO best practices and keyword research using SEO tools. Understands the role of content in paid and organic digital strategies.
  • Experience with using AI tools to add efficiencies to and supplement content strategy.
  • Skilled in creating clear, compelling, and engaging storytelling content.
  • Strong editing skills to refine content and uphold brand voice.
  • Preferred degree in Journalism, or similar study
  • Masters a plus but not required.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $102,023.00 - $138,032.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
