Job SummaryThis position will be responsible for leading the development and execution of urgent and crisis communications, creating and developing messaging strategy based on stakeholder business objectives and target audience’s needs. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong organizational skills, superior copywriting and editing expertise, and a high-level ability to take initiative and execute quickly.
Candidate will develop, edit and quality review content to ensure consistency while meeting strategic objectives to support the company’s internal goals and business needs. This role will support creating and maintaining marketing editorial calendars, style guides, communication strategies and content migration plans.

To be effective, an individual must be able to perform each job duty successfully:

  • Serve as the marketing channel manager for crisis communications. This includes working with high level executives on development and execution of urgent and communications.
  • Proficient in English, expertise in content, copyediting for style, grammar, accuracy, formatting, jargon, spelling and punctuation.
  • Attentive to detail with experience writing and editing clear, engaging and useful product, service and executive-level business documents.
  • Develop external communication pieces and messaging on sensitive matters to elevate awareness, drive consideration and ultimately increase brand preference, encouraging internal and external loyalty.
  • Establish critical path, milestones and delivery dates for projects and review stakeholder deliverables to ensure they meet acceptance criteria and align with business focus.
  • Anticipate needs, make recommendations, and assist with the organization’s communication strategy and messaging needs.
  • Manage projects from inception to completion including the organization of project teams to complete objectives.
  • Support the development and maintenance of editorial calendars, marketing style guides, communication and business channel strategies, and taxonomy systems to classify activities, risks and objectives.
  • Maintain content strategy forecast in collaboration with marketing team and business stakeholders to achieve anticipated benchmarks, report on industry trends and make recommendations.
  • Partner to define requirements for messaging templates and standards for stakeholder use to automate work.
  • Lead campaign discoveries and brainstorm meetings to prepare communication plans and creative briefs.
  • Facilitate communication campaign debrief meetings to gather lessons learned, provide campaign performance data, and establish best practices for future communication campaigns.
  • Manage content and engagement analytics throughout communication campaigns and systems to assess messaging performance and adjust strategy and systems as necessary.
  • Develop and apply a metric system and benchmarking for output of marketing messaging, including formalizing standard operating procedures.
  • Comply with all regulations as required by law, including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, FACT Act, GLBA, Regulation CC (Funds Availability) and other regulation.
  • Work with compliance team to ensure regulatory and legal compliance in all messaging.
  • Work with marketing leadership to understand markets, growth opportunities and performance standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

Experience

  • Minimum of eight years of strategic content management, including data analysis.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience writing and editing engaging and useful product, service and executive-level business documents.
  • Financial industry background preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Communications, Marketing, English, Business or related field. Education must be from an accredited institution and will be verified.
  • Five years of additional experience in a progressive communications or marketing work environment with an emphasis in writing/editing may be substituted in place of a bachelor's degree. Experience in process improvement and/or data analytics a plus. Master’s degree preferred.

Licenses, Certificates, Registrations
Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Project Management Practitioner (CPMP), or other project certification preferred.

Computer/Office Equipment Skills
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Managerial Responsibility
May lead a small team of up to five. Leads high profile project teams that have executive visibility.

Language Skills

  • Expertise to clearly express ideas, methodology, results and recommendations verbally, in writing and through insightful reports and graphic illustrations.
  • Ability to communicate messages that involve sensitive matters or important information in a professional way.
  • Ability to document outcomes and present information in a manner appropriate for key stakeholders and all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead and collaborate with ad-hoc teams.

  • Possess a desire and willingness to learn and continually update knowledge base on communication concepts, strategies, systems, etc.
  • Take initiative to problem solve and provide suggestions to improve processes and efficiencies.
  • Demonstrates understanding of quality control principles and process management.
