RentOk is India's leading PG and rental property management platform. We help PG owners, hostel chains, and landlords automate rent collection, tenant onboarding, KYC, and operations — replacing chaotic WhatsApp threads and Excel sheets with a single, India-first software built for the way real owners actually work.
We are growing fast across Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, and Gurgaon/NCR, with an intensely loyal community of owners who run anywhere from 10-bed PGs to 500-bed hostel chains. Marketing at RentOk is not a support function — it is one of the primary growth engines of the business.
The RoleWe are looking for a Marketing Manager - a generalist who thinks in systems, writes with conviction, and can operate in a high speed team. This person will own the full marketing stack: brand narrative, content engine, SEO, user journeys, GTM for new features, competitive intelligence, and marketing planning.
This is not a role for someone who manages agencies and reviews decks. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where you will write, build, test, and ship - and eventually build a small, tight team around you.
You will sit at the intersection of product, sales, and customer success. You will understand the PG owner better than anyone in the building. And you will build a brand that owners in Bengaluru recommend to owners in Pune over chai.
What You Will Own1. Content Marketing & StorytellingOwn the content calendar - themes, cadence, channels, and funnel-stage mapping
Build and maintain RentOk's core brand narrative; make it consistent across every touchpoint
Source, script, and produce owner stories (minimum 2 per month - this is a hard KPI)
Produce YouTube long-form, Instagram Reels, Meta video ads, WhatsApp broadcast content
Write blog posts, regulatory guides, lead magnets, landing page copy, and ad copy in English and Hinglish
Design repurposing pipelines: one owner story → YouTube → Reel → WhatsApp → sales deck
Own organic search strategy: keyword targeting, content mapping, technical SEO coordination
Build authority content for high-intent queries (PG management software India, rent collection app, city + segment combos)
Own App Store Optimization - reviews, descriptions, keyword-rich update copy
Create FAQ and help content that doubles as SEO real estate
Track and report search share-of-voice vs. competitors monthly
Map and audit the full funnel - first touch through activation, expansion, and referral
Own email and WhatsApp nurture sequences across all segments (single-PG owner, hostel chain, new owner)
Design and test onboarding communication flows in partnership with the CSM team
Build referral and community activation programs that convert happy users into visible advocates
Identify and eliminate drop-off points in the trial-to-paid conversion flow
Set and track marketing KPIs that connect to business outcomes: not just impressions, but CAC, lead quality, activation, and retention contribution
Run monthly marketing reviews with the founding team - what worked, what didn't, what's next
Build city-specific and segment-specific plans as RentOk expands to new geographies
Manage marketing spend with a CAC-obsessed, ROI-first mentality
Evolve RentOk's brand identity - visual language, voice, personality, and tone guidelines
Ensure brand consistency across all channels: product UI, ads, social, sales collateral, and community
Build a brand that is distinctly Indian, owner-first, and feels like a knowledgeable friend - never a software company
Own community-building initiatives: WhatsApp groups, owner meetups, city-level events
Own GTM strategy for every new feature or product launch - positioning, messaging, launch sequence
Write product-to-market narratives that translate features into owner outcomes (not feature dumps)
Build segment-specific positioning pages and battle cards for the sales team
Run beta programs and early-access campaigns that generate social proof before public launch
Coordinate with product and engineering on launch timelines and feedback loops
Build and maintain a live competitive intelligence system — pricing, feature gaps, messaging, and ad strategies of all key competitors
Own win/loss analysis in partnership with sales — understand why RentOk wins and why it loses
Translate competitive insights into sharper positioning and sales enablement content
Monitor market signals: new entrants, VC funding in the space, regulatory changes, city expansion by rivals
Provide quarterly competitive landscape briefings to the founding team
Creating great content is half the job. Getting it to the right person, at the right time, through the right channel - that is the other half. Distribution is not a task you delegate; it is a discipline you own.
Build and maintain a distribution matrix: every piece of content mapped to its audience (internal team, existing users, prospects, masses) and its channel (WhatsApp, email, social, in-app, sales deck, community)
Own internal distribution - ensure the sales team, CSM team, and leadership always have the latest content, guides, case studies, and battle cards at their fingertips; no one should be sharing outdated material
Own user distribution — deliver the right content to existing RentOk users at the right moment in their journey: onboarding guides, feature explainers, how-to videos, and product updates via WhatsApp and email
Own mass distribution — amplify content to prospective owners through organic social, paid amplification, SEO, WhatsApp broadcasts, community groups, and partner channels
Build a central content hub or internal library (Notion, Drive, or equivalent) where every piece of RentOk content lives, is tagged by audience and funnel stage, and is instantly accessible to the whole team
Create distribution SOPs for every content type — a case study, a guide, a product update, and an owner story each have a defined distribution playbook that runs automatically
Track distribution performance separately from creation — measure reach, opens, shares, and conversions per channel per content type, and optimise accordingly
Have 1–2 years of marketing experience, with at least 1 year in a product or SaaS company serving Indian SMBs or a B2B2C product
Have done real content work - written copy that converted, produced videos that got shared, built SEO traffic from scratch
Understand the Indian PG / rental / real estate space OR have deep empathy for small business owners and their digital adoption journey
Can write in both crisp professional English and natural Hinglish — and know which to use when
Are a self-starter who builds systems, not just campaigns; you think about repeatability and scale even when working alone
Have run paid campaigns (Meta, Google) and can read performance data without needing a data analyst to translate it
Are comfortable being an early marketer for the first few months, then growing a small team around you once the playbooks are proven
Have strong opinions about brand and narrative, and the ability to defend them with evidence
Worked at an early-stage B2B SaaS startup in India (Series A or earlier)
Experience with community-led growth or referral programs in Indian SMB markets
Built or managed a WhatsApp-based marketing and distribution system
Worked in proptech, fintech, or any platform serving independent landlords, PG owners, or small hospitality operators
Experience with regional language content adaptation (Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, or Hindi)
We run on 15-day sprints — not monthly plans. Each sprint has one clear focus, a defined deliverable, and a measurable success signal. Alongside every sprint goal, you are expected to keep up with pro-rata marketing work: daily social execution, ongoing distribution, team coordination, and performance tracking. The sprint is what you build. The pro-rata is what keeps the engine running.
Ownership
You will own the entire function - no committees, no approval loops. Build what you believe in.
Speed
Decisions in hours, not weeks. If something is working, we will scale it the next week.
Real Product
You are marketing a product owners genuinely love. Testimonials are real, stories are real, the pain we solve is real.
Growth Path
As RentOk scales, you scale with it, a team of 8+, and a seat at the strategic table.
