Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Marketing Manager to lead marketing initiatives for our key brands—DEWALT, STANLEY, and BLACK & DECKER—in South Africa. This role will encompass all aspects of trade marketing, brand marketing, and digital marketing, with a focus on driving growth, expanding market share, and elevating brand awareness. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the local market, consumer behaviour, and the tools and hardware industry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Brand Marketing:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive brand strategies for DEWALT, STANLEY, and BLACK & DECKER, ensuring alignment with global brand positioning while adapting to local market needs.
  • Lead brand campaigns, ensuring consistent messaging and visual identity across all touchpoints.
  • Analyse brand performance, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and make data-driven decisions to continuously optimise brand health and market share.
  • Manage marketing budgets, allocating resources effectively across various marketing initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams, retailers, and distributors, to ensure brand strategies are effectively communicated and executed.

2. Trade Marketing:

  • Work closely with sales teams and trade partners to develop and implement trade marketing programmes that drive product visibility and sales.
  • Collaborate with retail partners to design and execute in-store promotions, point-of-sale (POS) materials, and merchandising strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of trade marketing activities, adjusting plans as necessary to maximise ROI.
  • Stay abreast of competitor activities, identifying market trends and opportunities to create competitive advantages in the trade sector.

3. Digital Marketing:

  • Lead the digital marketing strategy for DEWALT, STANLEY, and BLACK & DECKER, including paid search, social media, email marketing, and content marketing.
  • Oversee the development and execution of digital campaigns that drive brand awareness, customer engagement, and drive sales.
  • Work closely with the eCommerce team to optimise online presence across key retail platforms, ensuring a seamless customer journey.
  • Manage the social media strategy for all brands, ensuring a consistent brand voice and engaging content that resonates with target audiences.
  • Monitor and optimes SBD brand websites ensuring prioritisation of new products and campaigns          

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with product managers, sales teams, and customer service departments to ensure alignment of marketing efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Support the development of new product launches, ensuring marketing strategies are integrated with go-to-market plans.
  • Leverage the EMEA-ANZ brand and digital teams to reduce workload locally and focus on optimisation of central campaigns through local adaptations

5. Market Insights and Reporting:

  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify consumer trends, market needs, and areas for potential growth.
  • Regularly report on marketing performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership to inform strategic decision-making.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
  • Minimum of 5 years of marketing experience in the consumer goods or tools industry, with a proven track record of success in brand management, trade marketing, and digital marketing.
  • Strong knowledge of the South African market, including consumer behaviour, retail dynamics, and digital marketing trends.
  • Experience in working with major brands, ideally in the tools or hardware sector, such as DEWALT, STANLEY, BLACK & DECKER, or similar.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful marketing campaigns across various channels (digital, retail, trade).
  • Track record for working in small, agile teams in a fast-paced commercial environment
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to drive decision-making and optimise marketing performance.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organisation.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience in digital marketing tools and platforms
  • Experience in eCommerce and online retail strategies.
  • Knowledge of local regulations and industry standards in South Africa.
