Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Oversees employees in the functions of Marketing.
  • Leads efforts to initiate contact with current and prospective new business partners.
    • Ensures the company's products/services are effectively marketed through interaction (correspondence, phone, in person, digital media, etc.) with agencies and brokers.
    • Ensures accurate reporting of and analyzes statistics on prospect lists, hit ratios, business retention, and new business production.
    • Researches and ensures department employs innovative, creative, and resourceful methods for achieving new business development.
  • Oversees the development, monitoring and updates to business/marketing plans.
    • Coordinates the development of agency business goals.
    • Supports underwriting in fact gathering, underwriting, and pricing of renewals.
    • Prepares reports to analyze and develop existing business profile/mix and the quality and quantity of new business.
  • Leads efforts to build strategic relationships with customers to achieve targeted profit goals of the division.
    • Ensures that agencies and brokers have adequate interactions/visits by assigned Marketing staff. Ensures the delivery of excellent customer service.
    • Ensures customers receive timely responses to requests for materials.
    • Oversees the coordinating/transferring books of business and ongoing contract management.
    • Ensures that issues/potential issues are identified and resolved.
    • Ensures the provision of continuing education and support to assigned agents regarding company products, programs, product line news/issues, eligibility guidelines, risk, and pricing philosophy.
    • Oversees the distribution of promotional correspondence (newsletters, pamphlets, et.) and/or marketing collateral to existing and potential agents and/or customers.
    • Oversees the planning and execution of both internal and external events to achieve area/regional marketing initiatives.
  • Gathers, analyzes and maintains competitive information. Makes appropriate recommendations based on competitive landscape. May utilize and/or oversee the maintenance of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database to improve services or target marketing efforts.
  • Leads collaborations with Underwriting, Product Development, Product Management, Corporate Legal, and Corporate Communications to develop marketing initiatives, new products, and the supporting marketing materials. May collaborate with other business units on cross-marketing efforts.
  • Ensures company is represented at industry and association events.
  • Recommends technology, tools, equipment or other resources needed to achieve goals or improve profitability.
  • Responsible for performance and coaching of staff and decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management. Ensures new members of the team receive proper training.
    • Ensures that the team meets performance targets.
    • Oversees business travel plans of staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Field of Study: Liberal Arts, Business or a related discipline.

Experience: Generally, 5 to 8 years of years of related experience, including 1 to 3 years of leadership experience. May require insurance licensure or FINRA Series 6 depending on product line.
