Description
- Responsibilities may include:
- Evaluation and implementation of workstation layouts compliant with strike zone methodology
- Material flow design from dock door to point of use
- Development of process tools for the team
- Documenting current processes and line balancing activities
- Participation in CI workshops as a contributing team member
- Support of key business initiatives and core projects
- Unique Challenges include: Balancing multiple requirements from differing internal functional groups, learning to develop macros to assist in standard document development, understanding how to apply our core standards in a variety of OEM products and plant constraints
Duties:
- This role may support
- Material flow planning for new model year launch
- Direct labor CI activities and line rebalances
- Ergonomic workstation improvements
- Process tool development for the Lean ME team
- New material flow equipment testing and implementation
- New model year layout change implementation
- Simulation data collection
- This role may require travel both within and outside of Michigan to visit our manufacturing plants
Other position requirements:
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university and working towards a 4 year B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Industrial Engineering.
- Available to work up to 40 hours per week during program (May 1 – Aug 30)
- Minimum overall GPA of at least 3.0.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in automotive related position an added plus
- AutoCAD experience is an added plus.
- Experience developing macros is an added plus.
- Solid analytical skills and work effectively with plant and corporate teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail, organization skills and follow up
- Proficient in MS Office
