You’ll also help grow ERM’s presence in the Great Lakes & Northeast while collaborating with global experts to deliver best-in-class solutions.

What You'll Bring:

Required

  • 5 - 7+ years of experience in EHS compliance, management systems, or sustainability programs (consulting or industry)

  • Strong technical knowledge in environmental areas (e.g., air quality, stormwater, spill prevention, hazardous waste)

  • Experience managing projects, budgets, and timelines with accountability for quality outcomes

  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives, delegate effectively, and mentor team members

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, safety, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to travel up to 40% domestically and [potentially] internationally

Preferred

  • 7+ years of relevant experience, including consulting background

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MS)

  • Professional certifications (e.g., PE, CHMM, QEP, ASP/CSP)

  • Experience developing EHS management systems and maintaining compliance standards

  • Proven success in business development, proposal writing, and client growth

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead EHS permitting, compliance audits, assessments, and corrective action implementation across client operations

  • Develop and implement EHS regulatory programs (air, water, waste, spill prevention) and related management systems

  • Manage multiple projects end-to-end, ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, and budget

  • Provide on-site compliance support and technical expertise at client facilities

  • Design and guide EHS strategies aligned with client goals and regulatory requirements

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to drive repeat business and new opportunities

  • Prepare proposals, identify growth opportunities, and contribute to expanding ERM’s EHS services

  • Mentor junior staff, delegate work effectively, and support team development and performance

  • Support other ERM Project Managers and Partners in delivering EHS compliance programs for ERM clients

  • Collaborate with ERM’s global network to share best practices and deliver innovative solutions

For the Managing Consultant, Sustainable Operations position, the anticipated annual base pay is $90,000–$126,493 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).

Skills Required

  • Substantial experience as a construction supervisor or a BS in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • 5-8 years of environmental engineering and construction management consulting experience
  • Experience working on construction sites (DDD preferred), including preparing work plans
  • Strong background implementing strict Health & Safety protocols; OSHA 30-hour construction safety and 40-hour HAZWOPER (or willingness to obtain after hire)
  • Ability to estimate, track, and process project costs; proficiency with cost estimating tools
  • Excellent communication, client service, and project delivery skills
  • Proven ability to oversee remedial/construction subcontractors and manage field operations
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate field personnel, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% during active construction oversight
