ROLE OVERVIEW:
We are searching for a Manager of Technical Services to join our Vreeland plant, where we manufacture steel drums and packaging closures. Vreeland is also the site of our paint factory where we produce inner and outer coatings for our containers. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will plan and coordinate all maintenance jobs for the purpose of all production related machinery, transport lanes, tools and production assets. You are also responsible for all premises related installations. The goal is to organizes the best possible availability, loadability and company security against as low as possible costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a maintenance team of ensure timely, high-quality maintenance and analyze effectiveness to optimize methods and frequencies.
- Plan, prepare, and follow up on preventive maintenance; register in LN and document machinery changes.
- Manage permits and liaise with authorities regarding the factory and its surroundings.
- Discuss maintenance goals and track progress using KPIs; drive process improvements.
- Make decisions on special changes and prioritize technical projects.
- Develop specifications for large projects (€20K–€500K) and order parts over €50K.
- Oversee machinery procurement and communicate with foreign suppliers.
- Approve invoices and manage investment decisions based on priorities and budget.
- Control variable costs affecting P&L; analyze and correct budget deviations.
- Plan and implement cost reduction initiatives; develop and monitor the annual budget.
- Ensure respectful treatment of employees and maintain full staffing for productivity.
- Provide cross-functional training and implement succession planning for key roles.
- Ensure compliance with Greif’s Health and Safety Policy and local HSE legislation.
- Promote a proactive HSEQ culture and conduct regular audits.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years of relevant experience in project management and team leadership in a production environment
- Fluent in Dutch and English
- Experience in making investment decisions and working with asset management systems.
