Our Global Clinical Supply (GCS) team ensures that patients have the investigational medicines they need, precisely when they need them. As a Supply Chain Business Lead (SCBL), your dedication will help accelerate the delivery of medicines worldwide by embracing challenges, imagining new possibilities, and taking decisive action. In today's environment, the demand for flexible clinical supply solutions is greater than ever, requiring not only close collaboration with strategic partners but also robust planning and forecasting of budgets across all of GCS. By developing and implementing innovative sourcing models, and proactively managing financial planning, you will help sustain Operational Excellence and enable long-term agility for the entire GCS portfolio.
This SCBL role reports directly to the Global Clinical Supply Strategic Hub Team Lead in Greece and has matrix reporting to the Director of Supply Chain Portfolio Operations. This role will interact with colleagues from other Global Clinical Supply functional line, partner lines, and strategic partners.
Financial Accountability
This role drives financial strategy by developing and implementing innovative sourcing models and proactively managing financial planning. Success requires close collaboration with strategic partners and robust budgetary planning and forecasting across GCS.
What You Will Achieve
  • Shape, develop, and enable execution of forecasting, planning & sourcing strategies that will advance and grow the GCS business.
  • Ongoing evaluation and management of strategic sourcing vendor capabilities that build resilience and agility in the GCS Supply Chain.
  • Partner with other GCS workstreams to evaluate and monitor performance related to Technical Plan expectations and key strategic issues.
  • Provide insight from market signals that could impact business performance or strategic direction of the clinical supplier network
  • Deliver new business/ resource models which provide agile planning and network flexibility
  • Provide technical Supply Chain subject matter expertise to GCS functional lines on the Pfizer supplier engagement process inclusive of overarching governance and supplier performance management.
  • Partner across GCS and quality to measure, and monitor supplier operational performance, establish action plans, track progress, report and communicate to ensure GCS relationship, financial, quality, and operational objectives are achieved.
  • Develop and implement short to mid-term supply chain strategies and networks to support business growth and new program execution.
  • Maintain positive & professional working relationships with key GCS suppliers
  • Evaluation of risk to ensure business continuity across the clinical supply chain
  • Integrate all GCS operations, enhancing delivery, strategic planning, vendor relationship management, leadership, collaboration, and regulatory compliance within Global Clinical Supply Operations (GCSO).
  • Effectively identify and address issues related to supply chain planning/ forecasting & execution of supply chain strategies.
  • Identify & report key performance indicators to demonstrate effectiveness of forecasting/ planning, resource management, financial progress to plan.
  • Support supplier performance management to sustain operational excellence and identify areas for continuous improvement and long-term agility.
  • Act as GCSO Department Training Lead (DTL).
  • Work with GCSO People Managers to ensure all job roles/ training requirements within GCSO are up to date and compliant.
  • Work collaboratively with other areas of GCS, fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement across GCS.

Role Responsibilities
  • Maximize the value of sourcing activities and service provider relationships for Pfizer Global Clinical Supply in partnership with GCS leaders
  • Co-develop, pilot, and implement strategic sourcing models that deliver GCS products for the lifecycle of clinical development programs
  • Conduct market research into services that provide competitive advantage to GCS, formulate sourcing strategies, project manage teams and develop implementation plans to deliver value for stakeholder lines.
  • Define project or program level business needs, identify problem statement & translate project charter to identify solution.
  • Act as SME for GCS functional lines on procurement processes and facilitate or co-lead cross-functional teams as applicable to execute the procurement process and plans; enable supplier selection and decision process that is in alignment with Pfizer Policy.
  • Partner with procurement to analyze and direct GCS expenditure, to negotiate fair and cost-effective strategic agreements and to facilitate implementation of contracts for GCS.
  • Collaborate with Legal and other functions to anticipate and address an extensive range of risk scenarios to assure supply of services to meet GCS requirements.
  • Participate or co-lead governance related regular and ad hoc meetings with key stakeholders (e.g., GCS Leadership, Global Procurement, Finance, Vendor Leadership and Quality)
  • Coordinate with other strategic sourcing managers and sourcing groups to evaluate sourcing procedures and present improvement strategies to GCS leaders for approval.
  • Use Pfizer's systems, tools and reporting capabilities to oversee and communicate GCS forecast, resource, operational, portfolio and supplier performance.
  • Use data analysis, industry trends and benchmarking to evaluate sourcing/ demand management practices, supplier relationships and risk management.
  • Design and implement proactive and innovative strategies that are aligned with current and future business requirements.

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
  • BA/BS with at least 5 years of experience or MBA/MS with at least 3 years of experience or PhD/JD with up to 2 years of experience
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to negotiate across multi-disciplinary teams to deliver milestones.
  • Customer oriented with proficiency across sourcing, vendor engagement and vendor oversight.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize issues and drive progress in ambiguous situations.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills with an ability to aggregate detailed data into digestible information that can be used to support decision making
  • Willingness to appropriately engage to develop, promote, and maintain strategic sourcing relationships.
  • Experience managing change in a dynamic, complex environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with AI tools
  • Demonstrated interest in Patient Quality and Compliance
  • Relevant experience in Supply and Logistics management, particularly within the pharmaceutical industry or similar sectors
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning systems (e.g., SAP)

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)
  • Digital and AI Transformation Experience - experience leveraging digital technologies, automation, analytics and AI-enabled solutions to improve operational efficiency and data visibility
  • Strategic Sourcing experience specific to clinical supply chain management
  • Advanced training in supply chain management, a scientific discipline, pharmacy and/or business administration are desirable
  • Experience with drug development, clinical study design, clinical trial operations and clinical trial execution, scientific research, pharmaceutical manufacturing would be advantageous
  • Experience with strategic sourcing, clinical packaging, labeling, distribution, IRT and supplier management are highly desirable
  • Project Management certification is desirable
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) system
