Who we are:

Fairstone Bank and its family of brands are united in delivering innovative, accessible and reliable financial solutions that enable Canadians to reach their goals. Over the years, our brand family has grown. In 2024, Home Trust Company, Home Bank and Oaken Financial became part of the Fairstone Bank family of brands, alongside Fairstone, EdenPark and Fig.

Together, we are the leading alternative lending bank in Canada. We have the collective experience and expertise to better serve our customers and foster our partners’ growth. With a diverse suite of products—residential and commercial mortgages, consumer deposits and GICs, credit cards, retail and automobile financing, personal loans and digital lending—we offer financial solutions tailored to all Canadians, including newcomers, small-business owners, smart investors and savvy consumers.

About the role:

As a Manager, Strategic Sourcing, you are accountable for executing Strategic Sourcing initiatives and managing assigned spend categories and vendor relationships to deliver commercial value, manage third‑party risk, and support business priorities. You will work closely with business, technology, legal, and risk partners to implement sourcing strategies and ensure supplier arrangements are commercially sound and compliant with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

This role is hands‑on and execution‑focused, with responsibility for delivering sourcing outcomes across the vendor lifecycle while contributing to the continued maturity of the procurement and vendor management function within a regulated financial services environment.

  • Execute Strategic Sourcing initiatives across assigned categories, from market analysis and supplier evaluation through negotiation and contract award.
  • Support the development and execution of category and sourcing strategies that optimize value, manage risk, and align with business needs.
  • Lead competitive sourcing and RFP processes, including supplier analysis, evaluation scoring, and award recommendations.
  • Act as a handson practitioner, able to read, interpret, draft, and edit commercial contracts, escalating complex issues as appropriate.
  • Negotiate supplier agreements within defined authority levels, balancing cost, risk, and service considerations.
  • Support vendor onboarding, due diligence, and B‑10 contract assessments, ensuring alignment with governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and contribute to cost‑saving and value‑creation opportunities within assigned categories.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and vendors, supporting issue resolution and ongoing performance management.
  • Apply and promote sourcing best practices, tools, and processes to support consistency and continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, contract management, or vendor management.
  • Experience in financial services or a regulated industry is an asset.
  • Solid commercial and negotiation skills, with the ability to assess cost, risk, and business impact.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional partners across business, legal, technology, and risk teams.

What you’ll love about working here:

  • Continuous Growth: Education Assistance Program and Fairstone Academy for training and skill development.
