Leverage SAM tools and data sources (e.g., Flexera, SaaS management platforms, vendor
portals) to analyze entitlement vs. consumption across both packaged and SaaS software,
ensuring licensing compliance and cost optimization.
Collaborate with software product owners to define, implement, and continuously
improve point-of-installation validation processes that enforce compliance before
deployment.
Proactively monitor and manage installations of packaged software in partnership with
IT Operations and Product teams to avoid over-consumption and mitigate audit exposure.
Integrate SaaS subscription tracking and governance to prevent over-assignment or
underutilization of licenses, reducing the likelihood of true-up or unplanned renewal costs.
Partner closely with the SAM Senior Manager to evaluate and prioritize compliance
and risk exposure using a defined risk-versus-impact framework.
Ensure contract, entitlement, and procurement data in SAM systems are accurate,
complete, and current to support trustworthy compliance reporting and vendor
negotiations.
Coordinate and support software license audits and reviews, providing accurate data,
maintaining documentation of entitlements, and managing audit response processes.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement, Finance, Legal, and Product teams to
establish and enforce license compliance controls and to inform future sourcing decisions.
Identify optimization opportunities through research, data analysis, and trend
monitoring, driving continuous improvement in SAM processes and tool utilization.
Deliver clear communication and reporting on compliance posture, trends, and risks to
leadership, promoting transparency and accountability across the software lifecycle.
Ensure quality of compliance services and guidance, balancing risk mitigation,
operational continuity, and cost-effectiveness in meeting business needs.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field (or equivalent work
experience).
5+ years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or IT
Procurement, with a focus on software license compliance (or equivalent work experience)
Strong understanding of software licensing models (perpetual, subscription, SaaS, user-
based, processor-based, etc.) across major publishers such as Microsoft, Adobe, IBM,
Oracle, and others.
Experience with SAM and discovery tools such as Flexera, ServiceNow SAM, or other
enterprise license management platforms.
Proven ability to analyze entitlement and consumption data and translate findings into
actionable compliance insights.
Familiarity with SaaS management and usage analytics tools for subscription tracking
and optimization.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally across IT, Procurement, Legal,
and Finance to address compliance and risk.
