About the team

The Strategy & Operations team at Airwallex plays a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth and efficiency. We are a collaborative group of analysts, strategists and operators who are passionate about translating vision into action, using data, structured problem solving and tight execution to help Airwallex scale globally.

In Asia, South Korea is a key expansion market for our APAC region and will play a critical role in achieving Airwallex’s commercial success in APAC and globally. You’ll partner closely with commercial, product, operations and regional leadership to build a high-impact, scalable business in-market.

The role

The Strategy & Operations Manager, South Korea is a pivotal role that will work both deeply and cross-functionally to drive the entry and growth of Airwallex — one of the world’s top payment technology companies — in the dynamic South Korea market.

You will work closely with our commercial, operations, product and regional APAC teams across a wide range of responsibilities, from market sizing and go-to-market design to day‑to‑day execution and continuous improvement. This is a highly visible, high-impact role for someone who enjoys building 0→1, thrives in ambiguity and wants to help shape Airwallex’s footprint in North Asia.

This role is based in South Korea.

What you’ll do
  • Shape South Korea market strategy
Size, define and map the South Korea market; develop our understanding of key verticals, competitors, ideal customer profiles, compelling use cases and revenue opportunities across Airwallex’s products (global accounts, FX, payments, issuing, treasury, etc.).

  • Lead go-to-market execution
Work collaboratively with local and international cross-functional teams to plan and drive our go‑to‑market in South Korea — including defining country plays, coordinating launch milestones, managing timelines, tracking progress and driving accountability across stakeholders.

  • Partner on customer onboarding and operations
Partner closely with the operations, risk, compliance and implementation teams to design and deliver a seamless onboarding and activation experience for Korean customers, ensuring we balance customer experience with regulatory and risk requirements.

  • Localise and scale core processes
Adapt and localise existing Airwallex processes from other regions (e.g. lead management, pipeline hygiene, pricing/approvals, forecasting, incentive design) to support scalable commercial activities and operational excellence in South Korea.

  • Drive product–market fit in Korea
Identify product–market fit for Airwallex products in South Korea; work with customers and prospects to deeply understand local needs, collate market feedback and translate this into clear, prioritised product requirements to help drive growth in the market.

  • Run high-quality analysis and decision support
Use data and structured problem solving to answer key business questions (e.g. market sizing, pricing, unit economics, sales productivity, channel performance) and provide executives with clear, actionable recommendations for the Korea business.

  • Own cross-functional projects end to end
Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives (e.g. new vertical entry, partnership structures, new product launches, process re‑design), driving alignment across stakeholders and ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery.

Who you are

We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications below. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in strategy and/or operations roles — for example, top‑tier strategy/management consulting or in‑house strategy / operations in high‑growth technology, fintech or financial services companies.

  • Strategic and analytical problem solver with a track record of structuring ambiguous problems, running rigorous analysis (quantitative and qualitative) and turning insights into clear recommendations and execution plans.

  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with experience working in international teams and across multiple time zones, balancing inputs from commercial, product, operations, risk and regional leadership.

  • Language: Fluent Korean and business-level English, with the ability to synthesise and communicate complex ideas in a simple, compelling way — both in writing and verbally.

  • High ownership and bias to action — you are a self‑starter who can independently identify, prioritise and execute on the highest‑impact opportunities, and you are comfortable rolling up your sleeves to get things done in a fast‑moving environment.

  • Commercial acumen, including comfort working with revenue, cost and profitability drivers, and supporting go‑to‑market initiatives or commercial proposals.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with people at all levels and across cultures, and influencing decisions without direct authority.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

More senior candidates may be considered for Senior Strategy & Operations Senior Manager, based on experience and interview performance.

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in high‑growth, start‑up or scale‑up environments, ideally in fintech, payments, banking, cards or broader financial services.

  • Direct experience supporting or leading market entry, country launches or new product launches, especially in South Korea or North Asia.

  • Hands‑on experience working with data and tooling (e.g. CRM, BI dashboards, spreadsheets / modelling) to support decision‑making and drive operational improvements.

  • Experience studying, living or working in an international context, or in matrixed global organisations, is an advantage.

  • MBA or other advanced degree from a top‑tier institution is a plus, but not required.
