PDM Manager is responsible for leading a dynamic team of professionals in the fields of Product Configuration and Engineering Change Management. This role aims to ensure the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of product configurations and engineering changes while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The primary objective is to drive product excellence, streamline processes, and enhance cross-functional collaboration to meet organizational goals and deliver high-quality products to customers within established timelines.
Role and Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrate leadership skills to manage a team of engineers by cultivating strong culture & relationships.
- Coordinate configuration and engineering change management activities across different sites globally, ensuring consistency in processes and standards.
- Ensure adherence to Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, including change control, documentation standards, and audit readiness.
- Demonstrate strong medical and regulated product lifecycle process know‑how, ensuring compliant master data and change execution for medical / regulated products.
- Set clear goals and expectations for team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Play a key role in the regular review and monitoring of team deliverables based on organizational needs.
- Provide guidance and coaching team for desired skills, abilities, and behaviors to align with and meet KPI’s and strategic objectives.
- Encourage a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the team.
- Identify risks and issues relevant to the people function of the organization, assess and provide solutions as appropriate.
- Guide management in the identification of workforce planning needs based upon the priorities of the organization, ensuring that legislative, regulatory, and service requirements and organizational objectives are met.
- Collaborate with product management, engineering, and manufacturing teams to define and manage various product configurations, reflecting different customer requirements and market segments.
- Key Supporter for New Product Generation and Introduction
- Act as a liaison between teams to facilitate communication and alignment on configuration and change management.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in configuration and change management.
- Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives to optimize operational efficiency.
- 12-15 years of Engineering data management experience– preferably medical equipment manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in people management or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering /B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, Industrial Management, or a related field). An advanced degree or relevant certifications may be advantageous.
- Previous experience in roles involving both configuration management and engineering change management, preferably in a complex manufacturing environment.
- In-depth understanding of product design, manufacturing processes, BOM structures, and configuration management principles.
- Proficiency in using relevant software tools, including PLM and ERP systems. Agile & SAP ECC experience, at least 5 years. High knowledge in Agile & SAP and a basic understanding of the boundary business processes.
- Ability to create project plans, optimize resource allocation and prioritize across multiple projects
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards pertinent to the industry.
- Ability to work across with different organizations with a wide variety of personalities, both internationally and cross-functionally
- Strong communication skills both Verbal and written.
- Open to travel to different sites across Agilent as required.
