The Manager, Margin Management will lead profitability and Net Interest Margin (NIM) optimization across Manulife Bank’s portfolio, owning the analysis and planning of the bank P&L drivers. This role will unify FP&A disciplines with yield management, building robust business cases, ideating profitability levers, impacting pricing decisions and influencing Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) to align with strategy and financial targets. The manager will deliver clear insights to senior stakeholders and drive disciplined pricing governance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Profitability & NIM Ownership

    • Own analysis of bank P&L components (interest income/expense), margin, spread, and portfolio yield to identify NIM improvement opportunities.

    • Translate insights into actionable plans, targets, and performance tracking against financial objectives.

  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

    • Influence annual/quarterly planning cycles for yield and margin, including scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and KPI frameworks.

    • Develop end-to-end business cases (assumptions, drivers, revenue/expense impacts, risks) to support pricing changes, product strategies, and balance sheet initiatives.

    • Present clear recommendations to senior stakeholders and govern execution outcomes.

  • Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) & Pricing Governance

    • Influence and evolve the FTP framework with Finance to align with profitability goals; ensure transparency of funds cost, liquidity premiums, and risk-based pricing.

    • Maintain robust pricing governance across product lines; standardize methodologies and controls.

  • Profitability Ideation & Execution

    • Drive ideation for profitability levers (pricing, mix, segmentation, acquisition/retention, product features) and lead cross-functional execution.

    • Run portfolio diagnostics to pinpoint margin leakage and corrective actions.

  • Cross-Functional Partnership

    • Collaborate closely with Finance, Analytics, Product, and Treasury to define, access, and monitor KPIs; align on P&L impacts and portfolio strategies.

    • Deliver ad hoc yield and profitability analysis for senior stakeholders and decision forums.

Core Skills

  • Financial Modeling & FP&A: business casing, forecasting, variance analysis, sensitivity/scenario modeling

  • Pricing & FTP: Methodologies for funds cost, spread management, and governance processes

  • Analytical Storytelling: Translating complex analysis into clear recommendations and executive-ready insights

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Driving alignment and execution across Finance, Analytics, Product, and Treasury

  • Business Case Craftsmanship: Structuring hypotheses, quantifying impacts, and managing risk/assumptions.

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field

  • 5+ years in FP&A, financial analysis, or product management within banking or financial services

  • Proven experience with margin, spread, portfolio yield analysis, and bank P&L management

  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, reporting, business casing and scenario analysis; FTP experience is a strong asset

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and interpersonal skills; ability to influence strategic decisions across senior stakeholders

  • Ability to collaborate with Finance, Analytics, Product, and Treasury to drive profitability initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA, CFA, MBA or similar.

  • Experience with both lending and deposit products.

  • Track record in building business cases and leading pricing governance

  • Background in balance sheet management, interest rate risk considerations, and liquidity cost frameworks (via FTP)

  • Experience in multi-product bank portfolios (e.g., lending and deposit products) with demonstrated NIM impact.

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.

When you join our team:

  • We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.

  • We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words.

  • As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see.
