Logistics Manager

The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all transportation, parcel shipping, freight management, carrier relationships, and logistics operations to ensure efficient, cost-effective movement of goods throughout the organization. This role manages strategic partnerships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and parcel audit/account review vendors while driving continuous improvement in shipping performance, carrier compliance, and transportation cost controls.

The Logistics Manager serves as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders, the company's 3PL network, parcel carriers (FedEx and UPS), and external auditing partners to optimize service levels, reduce transportation expenses, and improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Logistics Management

  • Manage day-to-day logistics operations, including parcel, LTL, FTL, Imports and expedited shipments. (This excludes Merch imports)
  • Develop and implement logistics strategies that support business objectives and customer service requirements. Working with Park General receiving teams as required.
  • Monitor transportation performance metrics, transit times, delivery success rates, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Identify opportunities to reduce shipping costs while maintaining or improving service performance.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, carrier requirements, and company policies.

3PL Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party logistics providers.
  • Manage relationships, contracts, and performance expectations with 3PL partners.
  • Conduct regular business reviews to evaluate operational performance, inventory accuracy, fulfillment efficiency, and service quality.
  • Collaborate with 3PL partners to resolve operational issues and implement process improvements.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including shipping accuracy, order fulfillment, freight costs, and delivery performance.

Parcel Carrier Management (FedEx & UPS)

  • Manage carrier relationships and contractual agreements with FedEx, UPS, and other transportation providers.
  • Analyze shipping trends and carrier data to optimize service selections and transportation costs.
  • Support carrier negotiations, pricing reviews, and annual contract renewals.
  • Monitor carrier performance and drive corrective actions when service levels are not achieved.
  • Ensure proper utilization of carrier programs, discounts, and service offerings.

Freight Audit & Invoice Management

  • Partner with parcel audit and account review vendors to monitor shipping invoices and billing accuracy.
  • Review freight audit reports and ensure recovery of billing discrepancies, service failures, duplicate charges, and incorrect accessorial fees.
  • Oversee dispute resolution with carriers regarding billing inaccuracies.
  • Validate savings initiatives and recovery opportunities identified through parcel auditing programs.
  • Provide regular reporting on transportation spend, recoveries, and cost-saving initiatives.

Financial & Reporting Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage transportation and logistics budgets.
  • Analyze freight spending and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual logistics performance reports.
  • Track and report key metrics, including:
    • Transportation cost per shipment
    • Cost per pound/unit
    • Parcel recovery savings
    • On-time delivery performance
    • Carrier compliance
    • 3PL service performance
    • Freight claims and loss ratios

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead logistics process improvement initiatives.
  • Implement best practices for transportation management and parcel optimization.
  • Evaluate new technologies, systems, and transportation solutions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, Customer Service, Merchandising, and IT teams to improve supply chain efficiency.

What it takes to succeed:

  • Associate degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in logistics, operations, inventory management, or analytics. 5+ years of logistics, transportation, supply chain, or distribution management experience.
  • Experience managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
  • Experience working with parcel carriers, including FedEx and UPS.
  • Strong understanding of transportation cost management.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel, transportation management systems (TMS), and shipping platforms.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), CLTD, or similar certification is a plus.
  • Experience with parcel optimization software and reporting tools.
  • Background in distribution, e-commerce, or consumer products logistics.
  • Experience managing carrier contract negotiations and transportation procurement.
