Overview
The Manager, Business Excellence will support and help drive key areas of the Australasia Division in Mastercard across pricing, interchange, business analytics, regulatory governance and strategic program execution.
Working closely with divisional and regional stakeholders, the individual will contribute to strategic initiatives, business performance monitoring, regulatory compliance activities and governance processes that support Mastercard's objectives across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
The role provides broad exposure across local, regional and global teams, requiring collaboration with stakeholders across Australasia as well as regional and global partners.
This role requires a unique combination of analytical capability, commercial acumen and execution excellence. The successful candidate must be comfortable operating across a broad spectrum of responsibilities, from regulatory reporting and governance activities through to strategic analysis, performance monitoring and generation of data-driven insights that support business decision making.
The role involves making assessments and recommendations across strategic, customer, financial, regulatory, operational and risk dimensions, while supporting initiatives that help drive business growth, customer competitiveness and strong governance outcomes.
Success in this role requires an individual who can seamlessly pivot between analytical, strategic, regulatory and governance activities, applying the appropriate lens to support a wide range of business priorities.
In this role, you are expected to:
• Develop analytical insights and recommendations that support strategic decision making across pricing, interchange and broader customer economics initiatives.• Provide analysis that drives actionable insights into customer, market and network performance through identification of key metrics, benchmarking and competitive analysis.• Support the monitoring and reporting of key business, customer and strategic initiative performance indicators, helping assess programme effectiveness, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and measure delivery against strategic objectives.• Contribute to the development of business cases, strategic assessments and recommendations by considering commercial, customer, financial, regulatory and operational implications.• Support compliance with existing regulatory obligations, including recurring monitoring, reporting, governance and control activities relating to interchange and other regulatory requirements.• Assist in assessing and implementing changes arising from evolving regulatory and industry developments, including potential future changes to interchange, scheme fees and broader payment system reforms.• Support governance processes associated with strategic programs and funding initiatives, including administration, monitoring, reporting and performance tracking.• Lead and/or support multiple workstreams and projects, operating effectively in ambiguous and evolving environments while managing competing priorities.• Establish collaborative and trusted relationships with key stakeholders across the business to ensure effective information sharing, alignment and execution.• Guide customer and business strategies through analytical problem solving and the application of data, market intelligence and commercial insights.• Prepare reports, dashboards, presentations and executive materials that support governance forums, strategic discussions and business decision making.• Provide leadership and guidance to junior team members and contribute to the ongoing development of analytical and operational capabilities within the team.

• Experience in payments, financial services, consulting, strategy, analytics or a related field preferred.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to transform complex data into actionable insights and business recommendations.• Commercially minded with sound business acumen and an ability to evaluate opportunities through customer, financial, operational and strategic lenses.• Comfortable operating across a diverse range of activities, including analytics, strategy, governance, regulatory compliance and program execution.• Experience managing cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with multiple stakeholders in a dynamic and evolving environment.• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to balance accuracy and control requirements with broader business objectives.• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences.• Ability to tailor communications and recommendations for diverse audiences, ranging from data-oriented discussions through to executive and customer-facing engagements.• Highly collaborative with strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across functions and levels of seniority.• Self-motivated, intellectually curious and comfortable navigating ambiguity while identifying opportunities to improve business performance.• Passionate about payments, technology and commerce, with a keen interest in the competitive, technological and regulatory forces shaping the future of the industry.
