About your team
General Counsel (GC) is a trusted advisor to all parts of FIL, providing high-value independent advisory and assurance expertise through our specialist teams. GC comprises of Legal, Risk, Compliance, Tax, and Public Policy & Strategic Relationship Management. With GC, General Counsel Shared Services (GCSS) is a global Center of Expertise within GC based out of India and Dalian. The CoE is a consolidated central infrastructure and provides a range of strategic solutions, capabilities, and managed services to the various GC functions.
About your role The Business Analyst role will support General Counsel operations by analysing existing processes, identifying opportunities to simplify and standardise ways of working, and translating business needs into effective process and technology solutions. The role will act as a bridge between business stakeholders, subject-matter experts and solution delivery teams, ensuring that improvements address genuine operational needs and deliver measurable value.
About you

You have experience engaging with stakeholders, mapping end-to-end processes, gathering requirements and translating business needs into practical solutions. You are comfortable challenging existing ways of working, identifying opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate activities, and helping teams adopt new approaches. You combine strong problem-solving and communication skills with a structured, detail-oriented mindset, enabling you to work effectively across business, operations and technology teams. You are passionate about driving operational efficiency, improving user experience and delivering measurable business value through process optimisation, data-led decision making and technology-enabled change. Experience within a regulated environment, legal operations, compliance, risk or controls functions would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
· Engage stakeholders across General Counsel to understand operational needs, challenges and priorities.
· Map current end-to-end processes, including activities, systems, data, controls, decision points, hand-offs and dependencies.
· Lead workshops and interviews to gather, analyse, document and prioritise business requirements.
· Identify duplication, bottlenecks, rework, manual intervention, control gaps and inconsistent practices across teams.
· Design simplified and standardised future-state processes aligned with objectives, risk requirements and operational controls.
· Assess activities for potential automation, workflow enablement, self-service or AI-assisted delivery.
· Ensure processes are streamlined before automation solutions are designed or implemented.
· Translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories, process rules, use cases and acceptance criteria.
· Evaluate potential solutions, including existing technology, low-code platforms, automation tools.
· Develop business case and cost-benefit analysis, covering expected outcomes, risks, dependencies and benefits.
· Liaise between process owners, project teams, Tech, Data and other delivery partners throughout project lifecycle.
· Support project planning, dependency, progress tracking, risk identification and stakeholder communications.
· Assist with implementation, operating procedures, training, change communication and adoption.
· Maintain accurate process maps, requirements, decision logs and supporting project documentation.
Experience, Skills and Educational Qualifications
Essential
· 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Process Analyst, Operations Analyst or Process Improvement Specialist, with responsibility for analysing and improving business processes.
· Strong capability in end-to-end process analysis and redesign, including current-state and future-state mapping, standardisation, simplification and optimisation.
· Experience gathering, documenting and managing business and functional requirements, including user stories, acceptance criteria and solution specifications.
· Demonstrated ability to identify process inefficiencies, perform root-cause and gap analysis, and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations.
· Experience facilitating workshops and effectively managing stakeholders across business, technology and senior leadership teams.
· Experience supporting technology-enabled change, workflow automation, system implementation and business testing, including UAT and defect management.
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable outcomes.
· MBA, Engineering degree or equivalent qualification, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across the project lifecycle.
Desirable
· Experience within General Counsel, Legal Operations, Compliance, Risk, Financial Crime, KYC, Internal Audit or other regulated environments.
· Understanding of compliance and control processes, including monitoring, risk assessments, approvals, attestations, investigations, remediation and regulatory reporting.
· Experience with Power Platform, low-code solutions, process mining, workflow automation or AI-enabled solutions.
· Knowledge of control frameworks, audit trails, evidence management, data quality, operational reporting and performance metrics.
· Exposure to Agile, Lean Six Sigma, Business Analysis certifications, process excellence methodologies, or advanced PowerPoint and visual presentation development.

Skills Required
