Summary:

The Manager of Accounting & Financial Reporting is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining appropriate policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, which is compliant with GAAP, Statutory (STAT) and other regulatory requirements including accurate and timely processing of financial data for the organization and the creation of complete and accurate financial reports for internal and external purposes. This individual utilizes strategic thinking, management techniques and analytical know-how to define business requirements and drives the Accounting and Financial Reporting teams toward “best in class” procedures and processes, ensuring that functional deliverables are achieved.

Essential Accountabilities:

• Ensures the complete, accurate and timely processing of financial data and reporting for the Health Plan and subsidiaries. Reviews internal and external monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports (GAAP and STAT). Directs the analysis of financial results, ensuring that leadership questions / inquiries are addressed in a timely manner.

• Ensures compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures (both GAAP and STAT); ensures that proper operational procedures, policies, and internal controls are followed by the accounting and financial reporting team. Drives the recommended/required revision of or modification to policies and procedures as needed to ensure movement toward “best in class.”

• Works with the staff of the Accounting and Financial Reporting teams to execute on special projects and the implementation of process improvements.

• Communicates and collaborates across the organization to execute on enterprise-wide priorities and strategic initiatives.

• Fosters an environment that encourages the development of the Accounting and Financial Reporting staff to ensure personal and professional growth by assembling a group of talented individuals to encourage strong morale, responsibility, collaboration and success.

• Directs research of new accounting standards and technical issues analyzing their relevance for and impact to the Health Plan and subsidiaries in both statutory accounting and generally accepted accounting principles.

• Acts as a liaison with external auditors, including but not limited to the Company’s independent auditing firm, Insurance Department examiners and/or auditors representing other departments of states and the Federal government.

• Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies’ mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and leading to the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.

• Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.

• Maintains knowledge of all relevant legislative and regulatory mandates and ensures that all activities are compliant with these requirements.

• Conducts periodic staff meetings to include timely distribution and education related to departmental and Ethics/Compliance information.

• Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.

• Performs other functions as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Six (6) years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or related fields, of which two (2) years in a management or related equivalent experience in the coordination of functional groups, project teams or project leadership.

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business, or related fields.

• MBA or CPA preferred.

• Public accounting and/or healthcare insurance experience preferred.

• Knowledge of and experience with Workday and associated systems preferred.

• High integrity and interpersonal skills. Ability to persuade, negotiate, and to influence others through effective communication channels and management skills. Ability to think strategically, craft a vision and develop robust operational action plans.

• Ability to increase effectiveness and confidence of employees through skill development, coaching, mentoring and feedback. Supports individual adaptation to change.

• Ability to manage processes, analyze information, develop standards, and manage performance.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; the flexibility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• Demonstrate the ability to identify root causes of business and/or workflow problems and determine innovative sources for solutions and opportunities.

• Ability to make critical decisions that impact the department and the Company’s finances.

• Ability to provide proactive and creative solutions to business problems.

• Knowledge of business risk management and variability concepts, Enterprise business risk management, or business risk management within a function, area or business process.

• Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work prolonged periods sitting and/or standing at a workstation and working on a computer.

• Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or trainings as needed.

Compensation Range(s):

Grade 210: Minimum $85,446 – Maximum $158,080

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position. Actual salary will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, budget available, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s minimum qualifications, in addition to internal equity. The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package. Other components of the total rewards package may include participation in group health and/or dental insurance, retirement plan, wellness program, paid time away from work, and paid holidays.
