Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate both CNC and manual machining equipment. Including: lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to produce high-quality and tight tolerances components.
- Conduct in-process quality checks throughout the machining process to ensure components meet company standards and specifications.
- Utilize measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure product specifications are met.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery to maintain optimal performance.
- Collaborate with team members to improve processes and efficiencies within the machine shop.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area adhering to safety guidelines and protocols.
- Assist in inventory management for tooling and materials used in the machining process.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Description of Level System: This structure allows for clear progression and incentivizes team members to improve their skills and experience over time. Regular performance reviews can also provide opportunities for wage increases within each level, promoting growth and development.
- Level 1 (Minimal Experience): Entry-level machinists who may have basic training or limited experience. Responsibilities may include assisting in basic machining tasks and learning shop processes.
- Level 2 (Intermediate Experience): Machinists with moderate experience, who can operate machines independently, understand technical documents, and perform more complex tasks under supervision.
- Level 3 (Advanced Experience): Skilled machinists who can handle complex machining operations, troubleshooting issues, and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 machinists.
- Level 4 (Expert Experience): Highly experienced machinists with specialized skills and who mentors levels 1-3.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, technical training or certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a machine shop or related manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical engineered drawings.
- Familiarity with measuring equipment and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting and manage time effectively to meet production deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Ability to lift 35lbs from floor to workbench.
