Position Summary:
Logistics Officer is responsible for overseeing and managing logistics
operations under bond, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, shipment
schedules with suppliers, clearing and forwarding of containers, and optimizing the movement
of goods within the manufacturing environment
Logistics Management:
- Oversee and coordinate the logistics operations related to bonded manufacturing,
including inventory management, transportation, and distribution of goods
- Ensure that all logistics activities are carried out in accordance with legal and regulatory
requirements, including those pertaining to bonded warehouses
Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance
requirements related to bonded manufacturing and logistics
- Ensure that all processes and documentation comply with customs, tax, and other
regulatory standards
Inventory Control:
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, including tracking bonded stock and ensuring
accurate records of goods in transit and in storage
- Coordinate with manufacturing and warehouse teams to ensure timely and accurate
handling of goods
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and manage documentation related to bonded logistics, including
import/export declarations, bond certificates, and compliance reports
- Generate regular reports on logistics activities, inventory levels, and compliance status
Coordination and Communication:
- Work closely with internal teams, including manufacturing, procurement, and finance,
to ensure smooth and efficient logistics operations
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as external suppliers, customs authorities,
freight forwarders, and transport providers to manage and resolve any issues
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving logistics processes and procedures to enhance
efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure compliance.
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics
function.
Problem-Solving:
- Address and resolve any issues related to bonded logistics, including delays,
discrepancies, and compliance challenges
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks and ensure continuity of operations
Requirements
Desirable qualifications, skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or
a related field. Relevant certifications (Clearing & Customs Management, Logistics
Management) are a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related
field, with specific experience in bonded manufacturing or customs compliance.
- Strong understanding of bonded manufacturing processes, customs regulations, and
logistics management principles
- Proficiency in logistics software and tools, strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
and excellent organizational abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with internal
teams and external stakeholders
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing documentation and ensuring
compliance
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili language.
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration
- Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management
- Strong understanding of customs regulations and logistics management principles
- Proficiency in logistics software and tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
