Job Summary
The Executive Director (ED) will provide strategic leadership and overall management of the Association, driving the growth, positioning, and sustainability of Tanzania’s fintech ecosystem. The ED will be responsible for building, shaping, and scaling the fintech ecosystem through strategic partnerships, stakeholder engagement, policy advocacy, ecosystem development, fundraising, and organizational leadership. The role requires an entrepreneurial, relationship-driven, and visionary leader capable of engaging regulators, government institutions, development partners, investors, sponsors, fintech founders, and industry stakeholders. The Executive Director will serve as the Association’s primary representative and spokesperson locally, regionally, and internationally.

Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Ecosystem Development
• Lead the development and execution of the Association’s strategic vision, operational plans, and growth agenda.
• Position the Association as the leading fintech ecosystem platform and industry voice in Tanzania.
• Build and strengthen the fintech ecosystem through collaboration with regulators, financial institutions, fintechs, investors, innovation hubs, development partners, and technology providers.
• Identify opportunities that support fintech innovation, entrepreneurship, digital finance, and financial inclusion.
• Advise the Board on industry trends, ecosystem opportunities, and strategic priorities.

Stakeholder Engagement & Regulatory Relations
• Serve as the primary liaison between the association and regulators, government agencies, policymakers, and strategic stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with the Bank of Tanzania, government ministries, development finance institutions, donors, and private sector partners.
• Lead policy advocacy initiatives and coordinate industry engagement on behalf of association members.
• Represent the association at industry forums, conferences, policy engagements, and high-level stakeholder meetings.

Resource Mobilization & Strategic Partnerships
• Develop and implement the association’s fundraising and resource mobilization strategy.
• Build relationships with grantors, sponsors, donors, foundations, and strategic partners.
• Identify and secure grant funding, sponsorships, and long-term institutional partnerships.
• Develop sustainable revenue generation initiatives to strengthen the association’s financial sustainability.
• Lead donor stewardship, reporting, and partnership management.

Membership Growth & Industry Engagement
• Lead member recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies.
• Strengthen collaboration and participation among the association members and ecosystem stakeholders.
• Oversee the planning and execution of ecosystem events, industry forums, policy dialogues, and stakeholder engagements.
• Create initiatives that enhance value creation and ecosystem participation for members.

Organizational Leadership & Operations
• Provide leadership and oversight for the association’s operations, programs, staff, and administration.
• Oversee budgeting, financial planning, governance, reporting, and operational performance.
• Supervise staff responsible for partnerships, operations, communications, and administration.
• Ensure effective management of donor, partner, and member engagement systems.
• Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and mission-driven organizational culture.

Requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Communications, International Development, or related field.
• Master’s degree is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive leadership experience in fintech, financial services, technology, innovation ecosystems, associations, or development organizations.
• Demonstrated experience in fundraising, stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and organizational leadership.
• Proven ability to engage regulators, donors, government institutions, and senior executives.
• Strong understanding of fintech, digital finance, entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion ecosystems.
• Experience representing organizations in public forums and high-level engagements.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Communications, International Development, or related field.
