About the job

The legal counsel will primarily be supporting Operation China in ensuring compliance enabling growth and identifying and managing business risks from a legal perspective.

The legal counsel will work closely together with Group Legal function and will be invited to a network lawyer supporting Alfa Laval’s global business.

Members of Group Legal act as the second line of defence and as such have the role to check and challenge first line of defence and our policies and processes, creating authority and independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying and managing business risk from a legal perspective through sound commercial, legal and ethical risk assessment. This includes providing legal support in all aspects of sales, distribution, manufacturing, development, intellectual property rights, product liability, M&A, regulatory requirements and handling of claims and litigations.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex supply, service and/or purchase contracts and bids on a global level and in compliance with Alfa Laval contract standards, including for example Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts.
  • Providing support in various compliance areas such as fair competition, and export control and sanctions, in cooperation with dedicated functions within Alfa Laval.
  • Cooperating closely with GSS Greater China regional inhouse legal counsels and central support functions such as Group IP, Group Risk & Compliance, Group Finance, Group Sustainability etc.
  • Actively participating in and implementing continuous improvement of related policies and processes, template agreements, and supporting tools.
  • Bring awareness and training to business colleagues in commercial contracts, corporate governance and compliance areas;
  • Managing and coordinating disputes and litigations in liaison with external counsels.
  • Proactively partner with and advise management on potential legal matters to maximize business opportunities.
  • Keep updated on legislative trends and changes, and support the business to mitigate risks, which may affect the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Law, with legal professional qualification certificate.
  • Minimum 7-8 years relevant legal experience; experience in multinational manufacturing companies is preferred.
  • Proficient in laws and regulations related to export control and international sanctions. Familiar with various EU economic, trade and compliance laws.
  • Fluent oral English with excellent legal English reading and writing skills.
  • Capable of independently handling foreign-related contracts and supply chain compliance matters for manufacturing industry.
  • Competent in compliance system establishment, risk inspection and cross-department communication.

Skills Required
