Job Summary
Leads/Directs the Electric Field Engineering activities for regional operating areas. Provides guidance, direction, and support to engineering staff and assist/coordinate activities with internal/external customers. Monitors/evaluates performance of engineering staff to ensure the completion of goals and department objectives. Assists in the development of the capital budget programs for their respective state. Ensures all projects are designed according to Company standards and other applicable guidelines and codes. Collaborates with Engineering peers, Field Operations, and other Support groups to ensure safe, reliable delivery of energy services at best cost.
Essential Functions
- Leads all regional engineering activities
- Coaches, develops and evaluates engineering staff
- Assigns and delegates projects and responsibilities to engineering staff
- Reviews engineering designs to ensure they comply with all policies, procedures, standards, federal, state and local 6codes, and long term system plans
- Coordinates and assists in developing long range system plans
- Ensures high level internal/external customer satisfaction
- Drives functional consistency, process standardization and operational excellence
- Fosters a sense of project ownership and accountability within the local engineering department
- Partners with Field Operations, Support Services, Safety and Finance to meet strategic goals and objectives
- Promotes the use of technology, tools and planning techniques to improve process results
- Promotes safe working environment and public safety
- Provides technical/emergency support to Field Operations
- Leads diverse team of qualified individuals with authority to hire, terminate, promote, demote, coach, develop and performance manage
Required Qualifications For Position
- Bachelor's Degree B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology (ABET Accredited)
- 7+ years demonstrated knowledge and experience with electrical system design, system operations, construction activities, and emergency response
- 7+ years previous experience in Engineering or Operations departments working with/for an electric utility.
- Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles, system design, budget management, work management and project management. High
- Knowledge of applicable codes and compliance issues High
- Familiarity with engineering design computer applications High
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills High
- Familiarity with budgeting processes and systems High
- Demonstrated competency in budget origination, management and forecasting High
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- Professional Engineer (PE) License Licensed Professional Engineer Upon Hire
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI Project Management Professional PMP Upon Hire
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures relative to engineering and operations High
- Demonstrated knowledge of NIPSCO New Business policy, electric rates and tariffs. High

Salary Range*:
$110,200.00 - $165,300.00*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
