Job Summary
Leads and directs Electric Field Engineering activities for regional operating areas. Provides guidance, direction, and support to engineering staff and assists with and coordinates activities with internal and external customers. Monitors and evaluates engineering staff performance to ensure completion of goals and departmental objectives. Assists in the development of capital budget programs for their respective states. Ensures all projects are designed in accordance with Company standards and applicable guidelines and codes. Collaborate with Engineering peers, Field Operations, and other support groups to ensure the safe, reliable delivery of energy services at the best cost.
Essential Functions
Leads all regional engineering activities
Coaches, develops, and evaluates engineering staff
Assigns and delegates projects and responsibilities to engineering staff
Reviews engineering designs to ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, standards, federal, state, and local codes, and long-term system plans
Coordinates and assists in developing long-range system plans
Ensures a high level of internal and external customer satisfaction
Drives functional consistency, process standardization, and operational excellence
Fosters a sense of project ownership and accountability within the local engineering department
Partners with Field Operations, Support Services, Safety, and Finance to meet strategic goals and objectives
Promotes the use of technology, tools, and planning techniques to improve process results
Promotes a safe working environment and public safety
Provides technical and emergency support to Field Operations
Leads a diverse team of qualified individuals, including authority to hire, terminate, promote, demote, coach, develop, and performance-manage employees
Required Qualifications for the Position
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering or Engineering Technology (ABET-accredited)
7+ years of demonstrated knowledge and experience with electrical system design, system operations, construction activities, and emergency response
7+ years of previous experience in Engineering or Operations departments
3+ years of previous work experience working at or for an electric utility
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles, system design, budget management, work management, and project management
Strong knowledge of Company policies and procedures related to engineering and operations
Strong knowledge of applicable codes and compliance requirements
Familiarity with engineering design computer applications
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with Company budgeting processes and systems
Demonstrated competency in budget origination, management, and forecasting
Ability and willingness to respond to off-hour emergency outages and storm restoration efforts
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Additional Qualifications
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) upon hire
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification upon hire
Demonstrated knowledge of NIPSCO New Business policy, electric rates, and tariffs
Previous leadership experience over engineering teams

Salary Range*:
$113,500.00 - $170,300.00*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity.
