The Test Engineer is an experienced, detail-oriented engineering professional that plays a key role in the overall success of the engineering team by leading projects, planning, managing, and monitoring engineering functions. You will be responsible for overseeing various engineering projects and processes, and making any necessary adjustments in order to ensure successful completion of assigned work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but not limited to:

  1. Partner with the Product Management, Product Design and Architecture teams to make sure your team is aligned with product vision, UX strategy, architectural direction.
  2. Provide in-depth feedback to your engineers for the code quality and the approaches they’re taking at the low level design.
  3. Facilitate technical discussions and workshops.
  4. Resolve issues brought forth by engineering team members.
  5. Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to use and abide by. 
  6. Check and confirm the accuracy of the work performed and the methods used by engineering staff.
  7. Propose and oversee capacity and timelines for engineering projects.
  8. Monitor and determine various staffing and training needs.
  9. Hire, train, and supervise engineering staff members.
  10. Communicate and collaborate with other teams, suppliers, and contractors.
  11. Prepare and deliver various engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally.

  8. Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience
  9. Ability to work individually or as part of a team
  10. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. 
  11. 6+ years of engineering experience.
  12. 2+ years of demonstrated aptitude to lead people and manage teams of contractors. 

Skills/Competencies

  1. Excellent problem-solving and people skills – Communicate ideas effectively to resolve conflicts and achieve business goals. A focus on people and outcomes, not simply output. Strong problem solving skills, including providing simple solutions to complex situations.
  2. Strong technical skills - Proven track record of successful commercial software releases. Broad and deep experience of software development lifecycle end to end. The experience and ability to solve difficult technical problems. Deep running knowledge of programming languages, software design both front-end and back-end, design patterns, anti-patterns, testing techniques and infrastructure.
    • Programming languages and frameworks (any 2 or more of NODE.js, REACT, REACT NATIVE, Java)
    • Infrastructure - deep understanding of at least one of (AWS, Mulesoft)
  3. Strong communication and presentation skills – Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor. Must have the ability to communicate accurately and clearly, both orally and in writing.
  4. Team management and collaborative capabilities – Commitment to collaboration, within and across departments. Leverages each team member’s unique background and perspective to achieve team goals while providing clear direction and accountabilities. Must be a strong team player with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with teams working in multiple locations.
  5. Interpersonal Savvy – Understands interpersonal and group dynamics and reacts in an effective and tactful manner. Has a range of interpersonal skills, with the ability to select a best-fit approach.
  6. Professionalism and integrity in all actions – Demonstrated ability to foster concepts of teamwork, cooperation, self-control and flexibility to get the work done. Detail-oriented individual with a passion for learning new skills, technologies and best practices.

Capabilities 

  1. Up to 5% travel, as needed, for project team meetings, client presentations and other professional meetings/conferences as needed
  2. Ability to communicate in English (both verbal and written)

REPORTING

The incumbent reports directly to the Director of Platform Engineering who will provide general direction and guidance. Incumbent is expected to perform duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision.
