Role Value Proposition:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Test Lead to join SBS (Small Business Solutions) ART within the U.S. Group Benefits business. The role requires strong hands-on experience in integration testing across middleware, APIs, and ETL processes, along with the ability to lead and collaborate with technical teams.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in test delivery and management for complex programs and will work closely with development and external teams to ensure end-to-end quality for integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary onshore point of contact for testing for the Integrations team.
- Understand business objectives and develop test plans & strategies aligned with Agile / SAFe principles and methodologies. Define test objectives, scope, and key deliverables considering sprint cycles, PI plans & release timelines.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Architects, and Development teams to analyze Backlog items / User Stories and ensure they are clear, testable, and properly estimated.
- Lead the planning and execution of all testing activities. Serve as a hands-on contributor, stepping into the design, development, and execution of test cases, and scripts when needed.
- Ensure that test artifacts, including test plans, test suites, test results, and defects are organized and up to date.
- Facilitate daily coordination with Offshore testers to monitor progress and address blockers.
- Monitor quality metrics to measure test coverage, test effectiveness, and overall software quality.
- Mentor testers on Agile/SAFe testing practices and methodologies. Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Test Lead / Manager, with a minimum of 7 years in software testing in Agile/Scrum or SAFe environments. Ability to lead a small test team ensuring quality deliverables.
- Extensive hands-on experience in testing APIs and web-based systems, with a focus on end-to-end integration and ensuring seamless user experiences.
- Experience testing middleware integrations such as IBM IIB to validate message flows and message queue integrations.
- Prior experience in testing ETL and EDI processes, including validation of file formats such as XML, JSON, and flat files, and ensuring accurate data mapping and transformation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate with geographically distributed cross-functional teams.
Preferred:
- Awareness of Group Insurance business processes, including policy administration, claims processing, underwriting, billing & payments is desirable.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps tool for test case management, defect tracking, and reporting.
- Experience testing Salesforce integrations, including data flow validation and system workflows would be a plus.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. CSM, SAFe, ISTQB, Insurance).
