The Lead Systems Engineer will provide Systems engineering design expertise to the Data Transfer Systems product team. Systems is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on the product development approach, mindset, and process and includes activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the user’s needs. Systems is the discipline that executes a robust process of design, analysis, approach tradeoffs, creation, optimization, integration and verification. The Systems role consists of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs, integration of the subsystems that comprise the design, and the verification that the resulting design fully meets its requirements.
This role has responsibilities that impact both the team performance and their own performance for both product design, quality, cost and schedule. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Candidate should have experience in Aerospace, defense systems, avionics or other complex electronics/computer/networking systems engineering.
- Capable of providing technical guidance for avionics systems definition, design, integration, and verification.
- Candidate should have prior experience related to developing products used for complex avionics or computing and/or data server applications at the LRU level.
- Candidates should have prior exposure to defining architectures and requirements for systems for avionics computing and/or data storage products.
- The candidate should have prior experience with systems engineering processes including requirements definition, requirement allocation, requirements management, and requirements verification and validation.
- The candidate should have first-hand experience working in the lab integrating software onto hardware platforms, working with test equipment, the various design assurance disciplines as well as manufacturing.
- The candidate must be able to work closely with customers, to organize and lead the systems portion of design reviews from SRR through to PRR.
- Candidate will collaborate with the Hardware, Software, Systems, Test and Manufacturing teams to identify risks, implement corrective actions and optimize the capability of the product.
