Cox Communications, Inc. is looking for a Lead Software Engineer that is responsible for leading design of multiple systems across middleware and influencing the technical vision behind the Inventory platforms. The candidate should have deep software development experience with defining technical requirements and designing enterprise level network inventory solutions. The position will be responsible for communicating with boundary partners to determine their requirements, creating comprehensive solution plans, and leading a team of software engineer contractors as they develop polished final products. To be successful as a lead software engineer, the candidate should be an expert problem solver with a strong understanding of the broad range of software technologies and platforms available. Primary Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
- Provide technical direction and guidance to a team of developers through full SDLC lifecycle.
- Collaborate with other professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software and applications.
- Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility.
- Communicate successfully all concepts and guidelines to development team.
- Oversee progress of development team to ensure consistency with initial design.
- Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility etc.
- Requirement, design, development and support for operations of high volume, mission critical systems - monitoring, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of system issues; proactively identifying possible issues / bottlenecks and put measures accordingly in place to ensure system availability and to optimize performance.
- Work with management around project milestones.
- Support operations and development teams by providing advanced technical analysis, troubleshooting and triage as needed.
Minimal Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 18 years' experience in a related field.
- Network Inventory knowledge and its uses in the Telecom and Utility sectors with Blue Planet Inventory, HPNA, IP Control, and other inventory platforms.
- 5 years of experience of languages like Java or Python.
- 5 years of experience designing Web Service Interfaces and JEE components to enhance middleware.
- Experience in relational database technologies (PL/SQL) and familiarity with relational DB design.
- Experience in graph database technologies (neo4j) and familiarity with graph DB design.
- Experience with Windows, Linux, Docker and Kubernetes platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in all aspects of SDLC management specifically with requirements and design.
- Previous experience in providing technical direction to team of developers and production support.
- Previous experience building large volume, mission critical enterprise applications.
- Previous experience working in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in telecommunications field.
USD 117,300.00 - 195,500.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $117,300.00 - $195,500.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
