PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Aerospace Engineering or related field
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in the development and implementation of finite element analysis (FEA) software, user subroutines for commercial FEA packages, and numerical material models is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Fortran, C/C++, Python, and scripting languages is preferred.
- Experience with MSC Nastran, Marc, or other commercial finite element analysis software is preferred.
- Experience in the research and development of nonlinear solid mechanics analysis, including geometric nonlinearity, contact mechanics, and nonlinear material behavior, is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong programming skills in Fortran and C/C++. Working knowledge of Linux shell scripting and Python. Solid understanding of nonlinear mechanics and numerical methods. Ability to develop, evaluate, review, and maintain engineering software code; perform quality assurance (QA), benchmarking, and validation; and apply sound engineering judgment. Experience with software regression testing and QA processes is preferred. Ability to create clear and professional design documentation using tools such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Finite Element Methods (FEM), including both implicit and explicit nonlinear analysis technologies. Familiarity with commercial FEA software packages such as MSC Nastran, Marc, or similar products.

Key Responsibilities
Research, design, and develop advanced algorithms for nonlinear finite element analysis to support multidisciplinary simulations and technology integration within MSC Nastran and Marc. Develop, maintain, enhance, and test MSC Nastran/MARC and related software products. Implement, validate, and optimize linear and nonlinear solution capabilities within MSC Nastran/MARC. Prepare and maintain technical documentation for product enhancements, new features, and software improvements. Support Quality Assurance (QA) activities, including benchmarking, certification, validation, and release testing, to ensure successful and timely product deliveries. Develop representative engineering models to verify and demonstrate linear and nonlinear solution capabilities. Identify, investigate, and report software defects, enhancement requests, and performance issues to the development team. Create and maintain test cases, benchmark models, and automated tools for regression testing and performance evaluation. Contribute to the development and execution of QA procedures, testing methodologies, benchmarks, training materials, and technical documentation for new and enhanced product capabilities. Ensure all software products meet established quality standards and comply with Product Quality Metrics and Guidelines. Collaborate with engineering, QA, and product teams to drive continuous improvement in product performance, reliability, and usability. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support evolving business and organizational needs.
Senior-Level Expectations
- Lead the design and development of complex nonlinear analysis technologies and co-simulation capabilities.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
- Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and strategic technology planning.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to enhance Cadence Nastran's simulation capabilities and competitive position.
