Wells Fargo is seeking a seeking a Lead Software Engineer to lead the design and development of modern, cloud-native applications and services. At the Lead level, the engineer is expected to drive complex technical delivery, provide strong technical leadership, and influence engineering outcomes through design quality, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration.
In this role, you will:
- Lead end-to-end design and delivery of Spring Boot microservices and APIs, ensuring scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
- Build and optimize data persistence layers using MongoDB, including schema design, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Deploy and operate services on Kubernetes, applying best practices for containerization, resilience, and scalability.
- Design and deliver modern web user experiences using React or Angular, partnering closely with product and UX.
- Implement event-driven and asynchronous integration patterns using Kafka to support high-throughput, decoupled architectures.
- Review and analyze technical challenges, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions to meet engineering and service expectations.
- Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, reusable patterns, documentation, and mentoring across the team.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise security and compliance requirements and contribute to availability and service quality improvements.
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, Springboot etc.
- Experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React/Angular/Vue).
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and version control systems (Git).
- Understanding of software development methodologies (Agile/Scrum).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Exposure to containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- 8+ years of experience in software development
- Extensive hands-on experience in Java / Spring Boot with strong understanding of microservices and RESTful API design.
- Strong experience with MongoDB (or similar NoSQL database) including data modelling and query optimization.
- Proven delivery experience deploying applications on Kubernetes (containers, config, scaling, troubleshooting).
- Solid experience with React or Angular and modern web development practices.
- Experience with Kafka (topics, consumers/producers, reliability patterns) in production systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical delivery, influence design decisions, and collaborate with stakeholders across teams.
- This engineer will perform the development activities on a day-to-day activities and develop microservices application
- Able to Develop and deploy using the DevOps Toolchain and deploy the applications in SpringBoot
- Able to implement the NFRs using the best practices and ensure no leakages
