Lead Software Engineer (Python/ Typescript) - Last Meter team

We're looking for a Lead Engineer to join our Last Meter team and drive the development of the Last Meter Intelligence product. This product is enabling logistics companies to speed up delivery and improve the quality and reliability of their services. This is a technical leadership role where you'll architect solutions, write code, and set the technical direction for our web platform.

You'll work at the intersection of full-stack development, machine learning, and logistics optimization—building systems that handle complex geospatial data, ML-powered recommendations, and real-time delivery workflows. Your work will directly enable logistics companies to operate more efficiently and make data-driven decisions.

• Lead the architecture and development of the Last Meter product, consisting of a client SDK, server REST APIs, and data operations (ETL processes and ML and other algorithms).

• Build robust APIs that bridge our ML models, geospatial data systems, and user-facing interfaces.

• Design and implement algorithms for delivery route optimization, data analysis, and logistics intelligence.

• Collaborate closely with the engineering manager, product team, and Last Meter engineering team to translate complex requirements into elegant technical solutions.

• Develop data processing pipelines and use cloud-based data storage.

• Own the deployment infrastructure, working with Kubernetes and GitLab CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable, automated releases.

• Mentor team members through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance.

• Make key technical decisions around architecture, technology choices, and development practices.

• Balance feature delivery with technical excellence, ensuring maintainable and scalable codebases.

NOTE: This is an individual contributor role.

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong full-stack web development skills.

• Expertise in TypeScript for building modern web applications (React, Vue, or similar frameworks).

• Proficiency in Python for backend services, data processing, and ML integration.

• Experience with machine learning systems, integrating ML models into production applications, or working closely with ML engineers.

• Strong SQL and relational database design skills (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar).

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and deployment.

• Proven ability to build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience building RESTful or GraphQL APIs for web applications.

• Strong algorithmic thinking and experience developing data analysis solutions.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex technical challenges.

Would be a plus:

• Background in location services, GIS, delivery logistics, or data analysis domains.

• Experience with geospatial databases and libraries.

• Familiarity with DevOps and MLOps practices.

• Experience building map-based interfaces or route planning tools.

• Knowledge of optimization algorithms for logistics and routing problems.

• Previous technical leadership or mentorship experience.
