Job Description

As a Lead Engineer for Game Ecosystem Integration, you will be the technical anchor for a nearshore engineering team responsible for connecting game services and partner ecosystems into a seamless, secure, and scalable platform.

*Please note that no relocation support is offered for this position*

Core Responsibilities
  • Define and own the technical architecture for game ecosystem integration services, ensuring scalability, security, and robustness across AWS cloud platforms

  • Lead and mentor a nearshore engineering team, driving a culture of curiosity, technical excellence, and continuous improvement

  • Design and oversee API strategies and data flow patterns between internal game services, external partners, and third-party platforms

  • Drive data privacy and compliance initiatives (GDPR, COPPA), ensuring all integrations meet regulatory requirements

  • Collaborate closely with LEGO Game partners in Billund and Copenhagen to align technical direction with business objectives

  • Work across with other internal Lead Engineers in Gaming Technology to ensure problems are solved in a coherent and consistent way

  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies and methods to improve integration capabilities and system resilience

  • Own technical delivery end-to-end, balancing quality with speed and ensuring robust CI/CD pipelines

Play your part in our team succeeding

You will work closely with LEGO Game partners in both Billund and Copenhagen to translate business needs into robust technical solutions — ensuring that our game ecosystem integrations are reliable, compliant, and ready to support the growing ambitions of LEGO’s gaming portfolio.

Your role bridges deep technical expertise with strong people leadership. You will champion architectural best practices, drive API-first thinking, and ensure that data flows securely and efficiently across our ecosystem — all while coaching and developing your engineering team.

Do you have what it takes?
  • A degree or equivalent experience in software engineering, computer science or an IT focused commercial degree

  • 5+ years of documented experience in a digital/software engineering role, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership position

  • Solid experience with AWS Cloud services (e.g. Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, ECS, CloudFormation, Serverless)

  • Proficiency in C# and solid understanding of object-oriented design principles

  • Solid understanding of software and system architecture, including microservices and event-driven patterns

  • Deep experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs (REST/GraphQL) and understanding of end-to-end data flows

  • Working knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, COPPA) and experience implementing compliance in technical solutions

  • Superb communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills — able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences

  • Strong problem-solving attitude with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive decisions

  • Experience leading distributed/nearshore teams and working in agile environments

Bonus skills:
  • Understanding of Unity and/or Unreal Engine from an integration or services perspective

  • Familiarity with 3D file formats and graphic asset pipelines (FBX, glTF, USD)

  • Experience in the gaming industry or working with game backend services

  • Familiarity with concepts like continuous delivery, DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, and domain-driven design

Advanced English both written and verbal would be ideal as we are an internationally gathered team.
