Cox Enterprises is currently looking for a Lead Payroll Specialist to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia .
The Role:
The core accountability of the Lead Payroll Specialist is to accurately process payroll for multiple, complex multi-state corporate companies on the Workday Payroll system. This position includes payroll processing. The Lead Payroll Specialist will be the liaison for the payroll provider day-to-day administration and payroll enhancements.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as payroll subject matter expert in working with business partners on projects and process improvement opportunities.
- Provides relevant training and knowledge sharing opportunities with the Payroll Specialist(s).
- Processes weekly payrolls.
- Identifies and documents the need for new payroll procedures or necessary communications and reports them to management.
- Serves as back-up to Payroll Analyst.
- Supports complex payroll-related processes and issues.
- Monitors controls for defects, corrects defects and reports escalations to management.
- Follows up with timekeepers and managers to ensure procedures are followed timely and accurately.
- Responsible for completing the timely entry of all employee level tax, general deductions, special earnings, direct deposit, and all other payroll related data in Workday, payroll.
- Reviews, monitors, and validates transactions initiated by other payroll specialist(s) as well as other areas (benefits, compensation, etc.) to ensure accurate processing for employee.
- Assists payroll analysts with proactively identifying potential payroll issues and correcting any errors prior to completing the payroll transactions.
- Acts as a payroll expert concerning wage and hour laws as well as other payroll related topics to service customers with their payroll related questions.
- Maintains customer contacts for corporate payroll for questions, payroll check and reporting distribution.
- Generates any off-cycle payment transactions, as required.
- Sends communication and manages process for updating employees for special annual payments/updates (club dues, personal auto usage of company vehicle, etc.).
- Develops and maintains document(s) and procedures followed within the Payroll Operations area.
- Interacts with employees and HR professionals regarding questions about payroll.
- Produces reports as needed and/or directed for internal customers.
- Supports the Payroll Specialist(s) where needed.
- Monitors and responds to the CPAY Corporate email inbox.
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures for payroll process.
- Research and resolves pay discrepancies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED and 7 years' experience supporting a large HR/payroll environment. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 5 years' experience; or 9 years' experience in a related field.
- Moderate level of Workday Payroll reporting development.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent customer service, verbal, written and communication skills.
- Ability to be flexible and respond to varied demands.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
- Advanced experience using one or more of the following: Service Now, Workday Time Tracking and Workday Absence.
USD 30.87 - 46.35 per hour
Compensation:
Hourly base pay rate is $30.87 - $46.35/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.
Benefits:
Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, parental leave, and COVID-19 vaccination leave.
