Position PurposeUnder occasional supervision, perform financial reporting and technical accounting activities to support accurate and timely US GAAP financial statements and SEC filings. This role is responsible for the preparation of consolidated financial statements and external reporting documents, and supports the maintenance of US GAAP accounting policies, including research and implementation of new US GAAP and SEC accounting guidance.Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly consolidated GAAP financial statements.
  • Account for share-based compensation and calculate diluted shares outstanding.
  • Prepare earnings releases and draft financial statements and disclosures for quarterly and annual SEC filings, specifically Form 10-Q and 10-K.
  • Manage the review and submission of iXBRL tagging for SEC filings.
  • Maintain GAAP accounting policies and procedures; research and implement new accounting guidance.
  • Prepare financial analyses and summaries for management and the board of directors.
  • Serve as a contact for external auditors; support quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Perform accounting for fixed assets, leases and impairment analysis.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Participate in or lead special projects, as assigned.
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members.
Note: If based in the Chicago, IL or Chesterfield, MO offices, this position requires periodic travel to the corporate headquarters in Peoria, IL.Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA strongly preferred
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • [OR] equivalent level of education and experience
Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
  • Experience preparing or reviewing financial statements and related disclosures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to research and apply accounting guidance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to work with large datasets
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present findings to management
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, pay attention to detail and manage multiple priorities

Compensation OverviewThe base salary range for the position is listed below. Please note that the base salary is only one component of our robust total rewards package at RLI. The salary offered will take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications/credentials, talent availability & specialization, as well as business needs. The below range may be modified in the future. Base Pay Range$85,486.00 - $124,595.00
