Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to define, evolve, and govern the architecture of end-user digital workplace and communication capabilities across ABB. You will be ensuring a coherent, secure, and user-centric digital employee experience, while enabling business units to adopt and extend collaboration, productivity, and communication solutions in line with enterprise standards and security requirements. This role is required to define the overall strategy & architecture for this domain and has three people reporting into it.

You will be mainly accountable for:
- Digital Workplace & UC Architecture
- Defining and maintaining the domain architecture and standards for digital workplace platforms, collaboration, and productivity tooling
- Unified communications (voice, video, messaging, conferencing)
- Endpoint and client integration (desktop, mobile, VDI)
- Translating enterprise architecture direction into domain-level standards, patterns, and reference architectures
- Ensuring consistent user experience across business units while allowing local flexibility.
- Reviewing and assure solution designs impacting the digital workplace or UC domain comply with enterprise security and identity standards, integrate with core platforms and directories, support scalability, resilience, and supportability.
- Cross-Domain Alignment and working closely with:
- Application Architecture (SaaS, custom apps, lifecycle)
- Integration Architecture (identity, APIs, provisioning, telemetry)
- Security Architecture (Zero Trust, endpoint security, IAM)
- Platform & Cloud Architecture (hosting, networking, device management).
- Providing architectural guidance for selection and evolution of collaboration and productivity platforms, UC and telephony solutions, contact and meeting technologies.
- Engaging with vendors from an architectural perspective (not procurement) and ensuring vendor solutions align with enterprise lifecycle, security, and integration expectations.
- Authority to define and enforce domain-level standards and patterns, approve solution designs within the domain, recommend or reject domain-specific architectural exceptions
Qualifications for the role
- 7–10+ years in architecture or senior technical roles
- Strong experience in digital workplace and collaboration environment from working in decentralized or federated organizations
- Expertise in collaboration and productivity platforms, unified communications and telephony architectures, SaaS-based workplace solutions, identity and access integration, endpoint/ device and client architecture, security considerations for end-user technologies
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to influence without direct authority
- Pragmatic, user-focused architectural mindset
- Comfortable working across technical and business teams
