JOB SUMMARY:

Serves as the lead engineer in the analysis, design and construction of telecommunications systems related to assigned projects.  Acts as a

resident telecommunications expert and approves equipment invoices as required for telecommunications projects.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:(% of Time, Primary / Secondary)

1. Maintains awareness of and ensures compliance with ANSI, NEC, IEE standards, architecture and protocol standards, the Company's Safety

Instructions, corporate accounting requirements, and collective bargaining unit craft work rules applying to telecommunications projects.

2. Provides client consultation and supports and demonstrates the ability to effectively define and communicate problems, options, and recommended solutions.

3. Prepares strategic plans for corporate telecommunications networks and services, as well as exhibits, tables and text for planning reports.

4. Performs research and analysis of customer business applications to determine functional requirements.  Collects network performance statistics.  Conducts complex manual or computer-aided analyses of

telecommunications systems performance and complex engineering economic analysis of system alternatives.

5. Designs various telecommunications systems of significant size and complexity, such as: planning of project activities and arranging project support resources; designs and cost estimates, both preliminary

and detailed; equipment specification, proposal evaluation, requisitioning and delivery coordination to meet construction schedules.

6.  Conducts inspection and coordination of telecommunications systems installations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Able to multi-task.

  • Able to work effectively with others in coordination of projects.

Experience/Training:

  • At least 3 years as a Telecommunications Engineer or its equivalent in the field, 7-10 years of experience in Engineering

  • Experience with emerging telecommunications tools and technologies.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or its equivalent

from an accredited Electrical Engineering program.
