A brief overview
Develop and implement predictive modeling and AI solutions, and commercial applications, both internally and for our external clients across APAC region. Demonstrate advanced technical expertise in model development, understanding of our clients' needs, industry modeling practices, products, markets and AI applications in the industry. Communicate and present key findings from analysis (with an effective, audience-specific approach) to senior management team, key stakeholders and/or clients.
What you will do

  • Design, develop and validate statistical and machine learning models for prediction and evaluation of risk (mortality, morbidity, persistency, fraud etc.)

  • Prepare and organize large data sets and conduct exploratory analysis, hypothesis testing and data visualization to generate actional insights for our business teams and clients

  • Design and develop cutting edge AI solutions to solve business problems leveraging data, and AI technologies (LLMs, Multi-modal AI, Agentic AI etc.)

  • Partner with the internal business teams and client facing teams to translate business challenges into data science solutions and ensure models and AI solutions align with their business objectives and deliver desired business outcomes

  • Present analytical results and insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear concise manner and in business terms where applicable

  • Contribute to internal research on new data sources and explore emerging AI technologies and assess their potential applications in the Life Insurance value chain. Routinely present information to internal business teams and clients

  • Collaborate with local offices and serve as a subject-matter expert in the areas of data science, analytics and AI

  • Guide and coach junior data scientists in the team and support to achieve the desired team goals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, Bioinformatics or related field

  • Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, Bioinformatics or related field is preferred

  • Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, Bioinformatics or related field is preferred

  • 10+ Years of experience of data analytics, statistical modeling and research for life & health insurance or related applications, including but not limited to: Data preparation, cleansing and structuring of complex datasets; Design and develop predictive & prescriptive models (GLM, Machine Learning, Time Series, Clustering, Deep Learning, etc.; Conduct exploratory analysis, hypothesis testing, data visualization, insights generation, etc

  • Experience in GEN AI development and applications, including but not limited to: Solid understanding of prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agent workflow, and LLM evaluation, etc.; Proven experience in GEN AI tools such as AI agent development kit, LangChain / LangGraph, RAG frameworks, HuggingFace, OpenAI and/or Bedrock APIs, etc

  • Experience of solution implementation and business collaboration, including but not limited to: Partner with internal business experts; Build reusable tools/solutions for use across different markets for both internal and external clients

  • Advanced programming technical skills and knowledge, including statistical programs (ex.: R, Python) and popular data science libraries, spreadsheets (VBA) and database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent technology)

  • Advanced statistical and machine learning modeling skills, as well as data engineering, ML OPS, versioning, and monitoring & governance skills

  • Advanced knowledge of actuarial concepts including valuation and pricing (mortality, morbidity, and persistency studies) and the life insurance and/or reinsurance industry including knowledge claims, underwriting and risk analysis, and life, health, and/or annuity products

  • Advanced knowledge in econometrics, statistics, math and/or computational finance

  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods and work under deadlines, with advanced planning and organizational skills

  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment, participate in department/team projects and balance detail with departmental objectives. Ability to resolve conflicts and foster teamwork

  • Highly advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received

  • Highly advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines

  • Highly advanced ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Highly advanced persuasion and negotiating skills when working with internal/external customers. Highly advanced soft skills for key stakeholder management, including influencing and change management skills

  • Highly advanced investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills. Highly advanced ability to present analytical insights to non-technical stakeholders and translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions

  • Native or fluent English language proficiency

  • Advanced certifications in cloud platforms or machine learning specializations is preferred
