Cox Communications is seeking a Lead Data Scientist for the Network Analytics Applications team. This role will report to a Sr. Director of Data Science and will be responsible for architecture and development of analytics applications which support automated decisioning, correlation, and process support for the NOC, Network Technicians, and Network Analytics space.
This role will play a central role in the ongoing design and development of key decision-making analytics applications that are deeply integrated into both customer facing and employee facing platforms throughout operations. This role is seen as a leader of the analytics application space, requiring ownership of multiple solutions and plays a key part in setting the vision for the team's analytical applications and visualization toolsets.
Responsibilities:

  • Analytics Application Architecture: Identify or design repeatable patterns for implementing analytics application use cases.
    • Plan and document key logic paths, service architecture, and data stores for new use cases
    • Review of existing services for maintainability, scalability, and opportunities for complexity reduction
    • Design with a bias towards observability, reusability, testability, and scale
    • Design of test plans with a preference for automation where possible
    • Implement feedback from boundary partners and internal stakeholders in our internal applications and reporting systems.
  • Development : Develop analytics applications using industry best practices for design, development, and testing. Make recommendations where needed for tools, services, and ways of working.
    • Work in the AWS ecosystem to architect solutions that scale well and can be easily maintained.
    • Design and execute quality unit testing strategies, end to end testing, and A/B testing approaches.
    • Own and maintain the release schedule.
  • Developer Platform Tools: Identify and recommend best-in-class developer platform tools to help enable the analytics application team's ability to quickly deliver high-quality analytics solutions.


Qualifications
Minimum:

  • BA/BS degree and 6 years of related experience, OR MS degree and 2 years of related experience (cloud infrastructure and platforms) OR Ph.D and 1 year of related experience
  • Strong programming skills and ability to utilize a variety of data/analytic/software languages and tools. (ex: Python, SQL, Docker, Java, etc.)
  • 3 years AWS experience in a data science, analytics, or analytics application design capacity.
  • Experience with analytics application design and development.
  • Good communication skills. The ability to comprehend and communicate advanced technical topics to non-technical business partners.
  • 3 years of experience with source code version control software, like Git or Bitbucket, and CICD pipelines like Jenkins.
  • Experience designing and implementing large-scale, high data volume or user volume solutions in cloud platforms such as Google, Microsoft, or Amazon.


Preferred:

  • Degree in computer science, engineering or closely related field.
  • Knowledge and experience with specific AWS Services like Lambda, Step function, CloudWatch, EventBridge, EC2, EMR, RedShift, SQS, RDS, IAM, API Gateway, or Kubertnetes.
  • Experience within the telecommunications industry, cable industry or consulting.
  • Experience in automated test design and implementation.
  • Experience in data store selection for large-scale applications (high data volume and/or high read/write)
  • Experience with developer tools, enablement of local development, and industry best practices in automation of developer tooling.
  • Experience with the AWS Well Architected Framework.


USD 117,300.00 - 195,500.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $117,300.00 - $195,500.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
Benefits:
The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members.
