The Lead Category Manager, Tubing and Metal Fab is a key member of the Global Strategic Sourcing team, responsible for the procurement of steel fabrication and steel tubing components. This role centers on strategic supplier management, contract negotiation, supplier development, and cross-functional collaboration to drive sourcing excellence and value creation within the steel fab and steel tube categories. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and manage individual supplier relationships for steel fabrication and steel tubing, including negotiation activities. 

  • Achieve year-over-year productivity and working capital goals specific to steel fab and steel tube categories. 

  • Collaborate with departments such as Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Legal, Logistics, and IT to develop and implement sourcing strategies for steel fab and steel tube. 

  • Conduct market analysis and participate in trade fairs to identify and evaluate potential steel suppliers. 

  • Develop and execute global purchasing strategies for steel fabrication and steel tubing components. 

  • Negotiate, implement, and manage supplier contracts and service level agreements for steel fab and steel tube. 

  • Execute tenders, benchmarking, and price/value analyses to optimize steel procurement outcomes. 

  • Drive supplier development initiatives and implement supplier performance scorecards for steel suppliers. 

  • Plan and execute complex procurement projects related to steel fabrication and steel tubing, ensuring alignment with business objectives. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in strategic sourcing, including supplier selection, supplier management, and contract negotiation. 

  • At least 3 years of experience in category or material field strategy, preferably in steel or metals procurement. 

  • Strong knowledge of procurement techniques, supplier integration, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

  • Demonstrated track record of executing successful productivity projects. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. 

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, leadership, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities in a matrixed organizational environment.
