Lead Application Engineer
Job Summary
The Lead Application Engineer designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs advanced software systems and application programs for the organization. Additional duties and responsibilities include:
Leads functional projects and provides training and guidance to application engineers. Evaluates, researches, and recommends software application upgrades, patches, and new functionalities. Assists management in the design and implementation of new applications, including consulting with functional architects on application design. Works with stakeholders to perform application functionality gap analyses and feasibility studies for application enhancements. Develops and documents complex and in-depth technical design specifications to meet business needs identified through application requirements, userstories, support tickets, and test defects. Delegates tasks to application engineers and provides training and guidance on the design and development of software enhancements. Leads the development of test plans and scripts for functional, performance, regression, and user acceptance testing. Analyzes applications for compliance with security protocols and audit controls. Reviews and resolves escalated incidence management activities. Up to 10 % domestic travel
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or closely related field and 8 years of work experience as a Software Engineer or similar position. Experience must include:
- Designing and developing APIs using the API-led connectivity design pattern with MuleSoft, including RAML-based RESTful APIs.
- Using different MuleSoft connectors such as SAP, Salesforce, HTTP Listener/Requestor, Database, File, SFTP, VM, and Web Service Consumer etc. in developing APIs and writing Munit test cases for the APIs.
- Implementing security protocols, including OAuth 2.0, Basic Authentication, one-way and two-way SSL, and HTTP response caching using Object Store.
- Writing DataWeave transformations, MEL expressions, and implementing filters for data processing.
- Utilizing CI/CD pipelines and tools including Maven, Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, MuleSoft CloudHub, and OpenShift to automate API build and deployment.
- Up to 10% domestic travel.
- May telecommute from anywhere in US.

Work Environment
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 8+ years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
