Base Compensation Range: $19.59/hr - $24.52/hr
This position is eligible for an annual 10% bonus opportunity in addition to the base salary

Sterilization and Disinfection Control division manufactures and sells biological and chemical indicators that assess the effectiveness of sterilization and disinfection processes for pharmaceutical, healthcare, and dental industries.


Job Summary

The Lab Analyst II (R&D Department) is a mid-level position responsible for providing comprehensive support in the laboratory environment. Performs a variety of laboratory tasks, including sample preparation, data analysis, and equipment maintenance. Works under the supervision of senior laboratory personnel and may assist in training junior staff, ensuring adherence to safety and quality protocols.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Sample Preparation and Analysis:
    • Assist with R&D project(s) for either continuous improvement within the manufacturing facility or the development of new products.
    • Collect, label, and process samples for testing, ensuring adherence to established protocols or experimental protocols for proof-of-concept experiments.
    • Perform routine analyses and tests, recording results accurately and assisting in interpreting data.
    • Organize and prioritize workload effectively.

  • Laboratory Maintenance:
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment by following proper cleaning and sanitation protocols.
    • Monitor and manage inventory levels of laboratory supplies and reagents, assisting with procurement as necessary.

  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
    • Operate laboratory equipment and instruments, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
    • Ensure that all equipment is calibrated and functioning properly, reporting any malfunctions to senior staff.

  • Data Management:
    • Accurately enter and manage data in laboratory information systems, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
    • Assist in compiling and preparing reports based on laboratory findings for review by senior personnel.

  • Training and Support:
    • Provide guidance and training to Lab Analyst I and new staff members on laboratory protocols and procedures.
    • Collaborate with team members to improve operational efficiency and workflow.

  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Adhere to all safety guidelines, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
    • Participate in safety training and drills, ensuring awareness of emergency procedures.

Experience/Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in relevant scientific field or equivalent experience.
  • BS in microbiology, biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, biomedical engineering or related degree preferred.

Knowledge and Skillsets Required

  • Strong understanding of laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in data entry and familiar with laboratory information systems and software.

Physical Demands: 

  • Standing or sitting: For extended periods in laboratories or offices. 
  • Using computers: Typing and using the computer 
  • Manual dexterity: Handling instruments, samples, and data analysis tools. 
  • Equipment: Handling and maintaining scientific instruments 
  • Bending and reaching: Accessing equipment or storage areas. 
  • Lifting: Occasionally handling lab equipment or materials. 
  • Repetitive motions: Conducting repetitive experiments or analyses.  

Environmental Conditions: 

  • Workspace: Climate control (air conditioning or heating) to ensure comfort. 
  • Lighting: Artificial lighting and must be able to see different colors. 
  • Noise Levels: Light 
  • Ergonomics: Designed to support tasks such as pipetting, analyzing samples, and preparing reagents, often requiring precise movements. 
  • Climate: Regulated temperature, humidity, and cleanliness to ensure accurate results. 
  • Safety: Must adhere to safety protocols, including wearing protective gear (gloves, lab coats, goggles) and handling chemicals or biological materials carefully.
