Job Purpose:

The Key Account Manager (KAM) – Retail is responsible for developing and managing strategic partnerships with customers in the Mass Market Channel, ensure customer satisfaction, and achieve sales growth.  This role requires a deep understanding of the retail market, excellent relationship management skills, and a results-driven mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Relationship Management:

  • Serve as primary point of contact for assigned key retail accounts.
  • Understand the customer needs & requests. 
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders.

Strategic Planning and Account Development:

  • Develop and implement tailored account plans to achieve business goals.
  • Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts and create strategies to capitalize on them.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and client performance to adjust strategies accordingly.

Sales and Revenue Growth:

  • Meet or exceed sales targets and revenue objectives for assigned accounts.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and promotions to maximize growth & profitability.

Performance Analysis and Reporting:

  • Track account performance using KPI’s and ensure internal timely reporting.
  • Analyse sales data to identify trends and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with customer marketing team to design promo campaigns and activations,
  • Partner with the supply chain team to ensure product availability and on time & in full delivery.
  • Align with finance and legal to manage contract negotiations and payment terms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Brand, Category Management, NRM, D-Com...) to ensure the delivery of high-quality output, in D2D operations as well as in (Q)BR.

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience on a similar role.
  • Strong account management skills of large retail accounts in FMCG.
  • Strong business/financial acumen – P&L management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluency in English and French, Dutch (a plus). 
  • Strong negotiation & influencing skills.
  • Strong ability to connect (with) people to set direction, inspire and perform.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills across functions & towards customers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
