Job Description

  • Conducting market, competitor, and thematic research to support the needs of various teams, while sourcing creative references and inspirations from games, film, media, and broader cultural trends.
  • Identifying stakeholder needs and translating them into research objectives, long-term research roadmaps, and actionable insights.
  • Proposing research methodologies by selecting tools, preparing analytical frameworks, defining research questions, and building structured investigation plans.
  • Collecting, evaluating, and organizing data and supplementary materials (screenshots, diagrams, reference boards) from multiple sources, and producing clear, visually engaging reports, presentations, dashboards, and concise summaries.
  • Collaborating closely with all departments throughout the research process to ensure alignment and effective knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • Ability to run diverse research processes (desk, market, benchmark, thematic) with a strong understanding of both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Deep, practical understanding of video games from both a player and developer perspective, with strong knowledge of game mechanics, systems, and design principles across a wide range of genres.
  • Knowledge of the gamedev industry, including awareness of key studios, market trends, major releases, and emerging consumer patterns, paired with a proactive approach to monitoring innovations and shifts in player behaviour.
  • Excellent understanding of broader entertainment trends and the ability to connect pop-culture shifts to their potential impact on games and player behaviour.
  • Ability to source relevant data and translate it into clear, concise, stakeholder-ready insights.
  • Capability to tailor research outputs to different groups - from leadership summaries to in-depth materials for production teams.
  • Advanced English proficiency.

Interpersonal skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships across teams and seniority levels.
  • A high level of autonomy, reliability, and effective time management, combined with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset that drives you to take initiative.
  • A strong commitment to continuously expanding your knowledge, driven by genuine curiosity and passion for the field - someone who naturally seeks to learn, explore, and deepen their expertise.
  • Strong questioning and problem-framing skills that help uncover real needs and translate them into research goals, paired with strong attention to detail and the ability to present findings in a clear, accessible, and visually coherent way.
  • A high level of flexibility and the ability to quickly adapt to shifting priorities, working effectively with whatever tasks or challenges arise.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with conducting research (whether through academic work, research projects, professional or personal assignments).
  • Ability to use video recording and editing tools (gameplay capture, basic editing, assembling visual breakdowns).
  • Working knowledge of tools for preparing visual materials (comparisons, diagrams, moodboards, presentations).
