About the opportunity:
Shutterstock is seeking an accounting professional to take on the role of Junior Accountant to help support the continued expansion of our global business. The successful candidate will be involved in the timely and accurate processing of the monthly close processes. This position requires a highly motivated individual who is comfortable with rapid changes in direction and environment.
The day to day:

Prepare journal entries specific to cash and also complete bank reconciliations on a monthly basis
-
Help support the Fixed Asset inventory and related depreciation entries
-
Analyze expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis
-
Prepare monthly account reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts
-
Prepare various bank account reconciliations and investigate variances.

Assist with financial audits, SEC filings and SOX compliance
-
Assist with monthly/quarterly financial reports and analyses to various departments and business units
-
Other ad-hoc projects, as necessary
What you’ll bring to the role:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

1-3 years of previous accounting experience

Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Ability to bring insights and suggestions for process improvement

Highly detail oriented and organized

Excels in learning quickly and taking ownership of own development

Thrives in a fast paced environment and handles pressure well

Ability to be proactive and a problem solver

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The compensation package offered may vary depending on employment experience, skills, and knowledge. You may also be eligible for our generous benefits package including health, wellness and financial benefits. Compensation ranges for candidates in locations outside of the location(s) below may differ based on the cost of labor, market, and additional factors.
The pay range for this position is below:
• 70,000 - 80,000 per year in New York
Note: Commission-eligible roles are expressed as on-target earnings (base and commission). Non-commission roles are expressed as base salary only but are also eligible for annual incentives.
